Ok so had an annoying click on my Raaw Madonna for a while now and it’s driving me insane. It happens when peddling up, so a little effort through the pedals. It happens when standing and peddling or sitting. Relaxed flat peddling it doesn’t make a click!
it’s driving me insane on the climbs

    So far I have:

changed headset. Changed forks( coincidence with new forks purchase!). Swapped to a spare back wheel. Taken off cassette and cleaned/greased. Changed bb. Swapped to spare chainset. Changed stem. Changed bars. Rerouted cables to check it wasn’t that. Dropper has been out and cleaned/greased. Chainring off and cleaned/greased. Rear axle cleaned/greased

it doesnt make a noise when compressing suspension so i wouldn’t have thought it was linkage bearings. I have however changed half the linkage bearings with spares I had. Didn’t have a full set though!
    What have I missed?
I guess remaining linkage bearings are the only thing left?! Help!

What tyres? Anything stuck in the tread? If there is a bit of flex in the frame it might rub whilst you are putting effort in.

Forgot to mention I swapped pedals from my hardtail which makes no noise so probably not pedals.
The noise isn’t a consistent click so possibly not rotational. It doesn’t keep a beat so to speak!
could it still be saddle/saddle rails when stood up peddling?

Suspension pivots?  Maybe one or two aren’t the right tightness? My old Kona squeaks intermittently as one of the rocker pivots occasionally loosens.

Thread interfaces?  Check they’re all anti seized as appropriate

    Pedal cleats if using SPDs?

Stem bolts at either end? Though you’ve changed both headset and bars so unlikely.

    Loc on grips???

Ooh- check for a damaged hub axle.  A mate had this, was wondering why it was making noises. Took back wheel out at end of ride to find the hub axle has cracked.

Places I’ve found creeks on my bike included but are not limited to:

    Saddle rails on seat post

Saddle bolts holding saddle together (brooks)

    Saddle springs ( brooks flyer)

    Seat post

    Chain ring bolts not tight

    Chain hitting chain guide occasionally

    Bottom bracket

Bottom bracket threads needed PTFE tape

    Chain not clean enough

Chain had the chain lube washed off

    Pedal threads not greased

Smashed bearing with all the ball bearings ratting about in the bearing race. Almost the death of a frame.

Snapped seat tube. It was the death of thhe frame. At 10 years old off a decent jump at fort William dh I thought it was fair wear and tear.

Fork top cap not correctly tightened.

Bulging tire juuuuuust brushing the fork under hard cornering

    Broken rack

    Broken p-clip holding rack on

Good luck, by carbon road bike with a press fit BB and internal hoses started creaking today.

    I hate mystery creaks

On topic as I’ve got creaky saddle rails. When I strip and clean, does anybody know if you should grease the rail assembly? I’ve never done it before but current creak is driving me bonkers.

Coild also be the rails in the saddle body, but that will be a case of bin shitty OEM saddle and start again.

    Shoe lace

This… I had a very similar annoying click once, took me a ridiculous amount of time to figure out that it was the aglet on the end of my shoelace hitting the frame!

I had the shoelace tick tick once too. Took me days to work it out, sometimes it wasn’t there, then another it came back. How I laughed when I discovered it

Direct fit chainring (or spider) to crankset interface?

fanks all. Your advise has bean gr8! Let’s not get petantic over spelling

out of all the suggestions mech hanger is the one I haven’t checked of all those listed. Madonna mech hanger is a funny lug nut style setup. I checked the bolt that holds the drop out on was tight but didn’t clean/grease it. Will get a look when I’m home from working away Friday. If not that then the main pivot bearing is the only thing left I think

for me, it was the rear suspension bushing

I had an annoying click a couple of years back, it turned out to be the little tyre valve collar/lockring was loose on my rear wheel.

Last mystery clicking sound on bike I had turned out to be a loose spoke.

Took me a while to locate the source of my last mystery creak – it was a small crack in the freehub.

I had a clicking on my bike last year, it turned out to be the right pedal.

my annoying click turned out to be caused by one of the chain links…

Have had a click from the 12speed curved quick link being installed the wrong way round.

Stopped the main pivot down today, bearings felt a little rough. Had a clean and re-grease. Went for a peddle ? noise has seemingly disappeared when pedalling with effort. Cheers all ?

Are you in the bigger sprockets in the cassette? If you Google there are reports of them clicking. Something to do with the rivets.
