I am cycling 170 miles in 2 days for a charity on the Trans Penine Trail and need to know if I am trying to kill myself on this ride. Over the next 6 weeks I will be dropping 20lbs off my bike weight or more precisely getting my fat arse in shape for the ride. Currently I am just over 16 stone and should be just under 15 for my height and build, 6ft and large. Even when I trained almost full time I was only ever 14 10.
My bike is a Specialized Epic 29er but I am a little worried about the rolling resistance and my weight not the bikes.
Should I get some skinny tyres?
Whilst I am at it if you feel kind hearted and good natured the charity is Halton Hospice which cares for cancer patients on their last legs. Its the only local resource so if you are in a generous mood check out my just giving page. Even a quid will help.
