Now they’ve ruined it by charging for things (cropping imported rides, garmin upload etc..)

Any other websites that can do decent mapping for MTB, draw lines etc.., export to Garmin and crop rides?

    Thanks.

I guess it depends exactly what you need – but for ride logging, cropping etc – I use Strava.

Creating routes, Garmin Connect. All for free.

Edit – most of my route creating is on-road. Not sure how Garmin works for off road.

Used Strava Premium for a route at the weekend. The heatmaps are brilliant for route creation. Really makes the Premium sub worth it.

Why not use BaseCamp to plot routes?

Strava doesnt follow marked fire roads, poor!

I’ll check out Basecamp. I use garmin connect to upload my rides as well as strava, but you cant crop rides in garmin connect which is nuts.

For example, ive done many uplift days at BikePark Wales and I set my garmin edge 500 at the start of the day and stop it at the end of the day (to save messing about stopping and starting for each run), now i have no way of creating each run from one garmin file.

    Hey all!

Ride with GPS here. Most of the features on our site are free, and nothing has changed. It’s still free to create routes, search for routes in your area, upload rides from your device to our website, as well as exporting route files onto your GPS device. Plus a bunch of other stuff. There are obviously some tools that make certain features easier that are paid-for, but since we don’t spam you or believe in putting advertisements on our site, money from paid subscriptions is how we keep the lights on and the website running (as well as our Android app and soon to be released iOS app).

If anybody has any additional questions, please send an email to info@ridewithgps.com. We’re small enough that we can get back to you very quickly with personally service, something you may or may not find with the bigger guys.

    Cheers.

I’ve been using walkhighlands.co.uk great site. Very easy to use plus lets you use 1:25k if you sign up. Minimal junk e-mails from them so a win win! Made a few routes & uploaded to my Garmin with no issues.

Hi Ride With GPS. It has changed.

You used to be able to crop rides and save as another ride, great if you forget to stop your GPS device, its now part of the premium package, along with the upload to garmin directly.

Agree Ride With GPS used to be awesome, but i don’t use it enough to warrant a subscription

im also looking for a new free tool, ill take a look at basecamp again but as i remember it did not snap to roads last time i used it
