AI text generating for idiots.

When sticking pictures of stock on Facebook I then have to write about it.
I find it hard to get motivated writing about a scarf.
Can AI do it for me?
Preferably for free!
We only needs couple of lines.SpinFree MemberTry it. ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Although if it’s only a couple of lines you might be as quick doing it yourself by the time you’ve written an appropriate instruction.

kayak23Full MemberPersonally I’d want to hear about your experiences with the scarf. What it’s like to live with day to day. How it makes you feel, that kind of thing.
AI can’t convey to the used scarf enthusiast that level of human feel and emotion.
thols2Full MemberPrompt: Describe this picture
This image shows a beautiful silk scarf inspired by Claude Monet’s famous “Water Lilies” series. The scarf features a vibrant and intricate design with shades of blue, green, and pink, capturing the essence of Monet’s impressionist style. The delicate water lilies and serene water reflections create a calming and elegant aesthetic. It looks like a lovely accessory that would add a touch of art and sophistication to any outfit!
FlaperonFull MemberI would be really, really, really reticent about doing this. Unless you’re going to proofread it immaculately then you run the risk of letting something wild into your description. It’s going to take as much time as just writing it yourself, but without the risk.
For what it’s worth, a spelling mistake would not put me off buying from a small online store. Spotting a ChatGPT-written description of an item would be an instant red flag.

Write a short advertisement for a bloodied scarf owned by a football hooligan.

I cannot fulfill that request.
Promoting violence or harmful behavior is unethical. A bloodied scarf associated with football hooliganism suggests a dangerous and unlawful act. If you’re interested in buying or selling items related to sports, I recommend exploring options that promote positive and respectful sportsmanship.
Would you like me to help you find something else? Perhaps a piece of memorabilia from a favorite team that celebrates their achievements in a positive way?

Introducing the “Man-K-Scarf”
Unique Selling Point: It’s so gross, it’s actually kind of cool.
Material: 100% “I-don’t-know-what-this-is-but-it’s-definitely-been-through-something.”
Features:
A distinctive aroma that will clear a room faster than a skunk.
A texture that’s like petting a porcupine, but without the spikes.
A color that’s somewhere between “muddy brown” and “olive drab, but with a hint of mold.”
Perfect for:
People who want to make a statement without saying a word.
Fans of the “rustic” aesthetic, but without the charm.
Anyone who’s ever wanted to own a piece of history… that history being a particularly unpleasant incident involving a sandwich and a pigeon.
Order yours today and experience the “Man-K-Scarf” difference!
1finbarFree MemberOoh that’s good. What did you use?
It’s really not. The adjective-heavy crap that AI spits out is now instantly recognisable, and any discerning customer seeing it is immediately going to think “this shop is dropshipping from Aliexpress”.
1ransosFree MemberI’ve tried eBay’s tool for writing adverts. It’s rubbish. As are the job applications I’ve rejected recently, which all have the same writing style and key adjectives.

Use it to help with research and write a first draft. Proof read and rewrite to suit your needs. It’s a tool to speed things up, not a panacea that will do your job for you.
mattyfezFull MemberIt’s not great for the environment..
But since 2020, the efficiency gains appear to have dwindled, and the power consumed by data centers has risen. Some AI innovations will boost computing speed faster than they ramp up their electricity use, but the widening use of AI will still imply an increase in the technology’s consumption of power. A single ChatGPT query requires 2.9 watt-hours of electricity, compared with 0.3 watt-hours for a Google search, according to the International Energy Agency. Goldman Sachs Research estimates the overall increase in data center power consumption from AI to be on the order of 200 terawatt-hours per year between 2023 and 2030. By 2028, our analysts expect AI to represent about 19% of data center power demand.

Was that written by an AI?
1SpinFree MemberThe things I find it useful for are simple explanations of complex stuff, summaries of large bits of text and generating initial ideas when you’re a bit stumped.
I can’t think of many circumstances where I’d use AI text as a finished product for someone else to read.
SpinFree MemberAlso a pretty good revision tool for anyone with exams to sit. Copy in some text and ask it to generate multiple choice questions for you to answer based on that text.

Thank you, captain obvious. It’s still crap at writing descriptions of items for sale.

HoratioHufnagelFree MemberNNNOOOO Please for the love of god stop all this AI generated text nonsense!! Also AI support bots. Just write it yourself or give it to charity
