Anyone had dealings with these folks.

Received a text from them last week telling me i would receive a letter regarding HMRC. No letter has been received thus far. The text includes a link and a phone umber to call with a ref number. I noted, but ignored and was not going to be phoning any numbers. Quick google suggested they were a debt recovery company.

Got a phone call this morning from a gentleman with a foreign voice saying they are from Advantis. ( Stoke on Trent number which ties up with their website). He was asking me to confirm I was director of my company and then started asking me to confirm various details , at which point I politely asked what the call was concerning . He said he couldn’t discuss anything due to me not confirming security details etc. I said i’m not doing that and he said keep an eye out for the letter that is coming.

My company doesn’t owe HMRC anything . Corporation tax is paid, VAT payments are paid up to date. So i don’t know what could be outstanding. My accountant hasn’t said anything – just phoned them now to  make sure they / I  haven’t missed anything. Surely HMRC would write to me / them before getting any debt companies involved.

I wonder if I have been placed on a “winkers” list by ticking a box I shouldn’t have online 🙂

Sounds dodgy to me. We were late paying corp tax and Advantis dealt with it. All very straight forward, no phone calls. They had all the info from HMRC. Just needed to set up a direct debit.

I believe HMRC is doing nudge letters to persons with significant control if they’re not filing personal tax returns or HMRC thinks they might have under declared.

Don’t know if that is helpful to you.

The link I posted seems to not work properly but Google HMRC persons significant control and you should get a few recent articles.

Yeah, ‘cos our few thousand quid is much more important than big businesses tax avoidance that goes into the millions.

Could be genuine but so far from what you say, it sounds more like a scammer copying their approach.

Be very careful, don’t do anything without independent, supporting evidence.

HMRC website should have info on identifying genuine or fake contacts, and how to report dodgy ones.

    Isn’t HMRC based in Newcastle?

    Also never trust text link.

Hmmm, so after conversation with accountant yesterday who said there was nothing outstanding , one of the senior partners rang me to re-assure me , but did mention I had a just over £200 I had outstanding on my PAYE account. He also said they wouldn’t be chasing that as it’s such a small amount.

Roll on this morning when I received the letter from Advantis saying it’s time to pay my HM Revenue and Customs bill of £230. So that tallies up with what the accountant is saying.
I shall be having words with my accountant on Monday as to why I have run that bill up , as when I get my payslip I pay myself my salary and my nics etc to HMRC Paye/Nics Cumb on the same day ?

They can also tell me whether to pay directly to HMRC or to this lot whilst they are at it .

It’s P11d season so it’s not an adjustment for that is it?
