It shows how the British cycling world has been spoilt over recent years when having an English rider finish in 6th place on the TdF gets only the most minor of comments.

Chapeau Adam.  Another great domestique focussed tour behind you.

The team held him up on the podium as well, an acknowledgment I think that he could have done more for his own results if not for his (brilliant) team work.

Seeing how much worse British cycling is than it was 10+ years ago will mean people will start celebrating 6th place again in another few years I imagine.

Yep, one of my favourite riders (along with Simon – who was showing a strong comeback after recovering from covid).

Adam having won the Tour du Suisse definitely would have got a higher ranking, if, he hadn’t had been a super domestique for Tadej Pogacar.

We’ve got some great riders coming through, Oscar Onley and Josh Tarling spring to mind. But Adam Yates has a few more years left.

Adam Yates still at Ineos with soul leadership would have been a great addition to this tour.

He’s from down the road from us. Theres no shortage of brutal climbs to practice on 😀

Watching him power up those Alpine climbs is quite terrifying though. He’s like a machine! He never even look like he’s suffering.

I imagine it would help on the climbs

    Get up, (get on up)
    Get up, (get on up)
Stay on the scene, (get on up), like a sex machine, (get on up)

Great cyclist but why oh why does he talk in bullet point form, like he’s spent his entire life trapped in public information cartoons.

Super performance from a super domestique who is earning a GC salary. This is the UAE team strategy. That subtlety will be lost in the UK media. If it had not been for COVID, UAE would have secured 40% of the GC top 10!

His spare, riding for Jaeco, didn’t do badly either. I wonder who earns the most?

On the other hand I think it’s very healthy to see the spread of different nations in the results. 6 different nations in the first 6 places, 10 in the first 11.
