At around 2am July 4th the site will be down. There will be a maintenance page up instead.

While that is down we are going to take the site.. copy everything… transfer that over to the new WP VIP server and then launch. That could take more than a few hours. Luckily there’s something more important for us all to be doing tomorrow – at least here in the UK.

    GO VOTE!

    EXPECTATIONS AT LAUNCH!

We have migrated the vast majority of the site to the new place BUT, the performance of the site at launch will not be as good as it will be. The reason is that to make the site really zip along we need to create an index of the entire site that will be used every time you click about to bring up the page. We have tried to build that index before the launch but for complex technical reasons that won’t work properly. The solution is to build that index AFTER we have relaunched the site on it’s new server. It could take a couple of days to create that index on the live site. When that’s up and running the site should zip along happily.

Andy will be starting on the site from 4am and Anthony then joins him at 7am.

    ALSO…

REMINDER! The new site will be identical to the old site in appearance. Remember that I said we were transferring everything as is as our first step. Once it’s working fine THEN we will start work on the development of big improvements and features.

    Watch out for this tomorrow…

You don’t have to copy the crap I’ve posted, if that helps.

    Good luck!

    Good luck!

Not to turn this into a politics thread, but I can’t help noticing the “go vote!” image is all in blue. Is this some kind of subliminal message? 😉

Blue was the only working board markers we had 🙂
