    Anybody ride one?

Finally got mine built up, and have fitted 100mm forks (as i already had them) but i can’t seem to get the riding position right. feels a bit head down arse up.

I’ve only been for short rides on it, so maybe i’ve not given it a chance.

I had a steel 456ss with 100mm forks – seemed good to me?
Maybe experiment with different riding positions…

456 Carbon with 100mm forks? Well, unless you like ’em very racy, I wouldn’t if I were you. I thought 140mm was a bit short on mine, TBH, and the front end is still pretty low with 150s……

what length of stem / rise of bars did you use?

at 100mm travel it was quite stem length sensitive, but I whacked an 80mm jobbie on and it seemed much improved – any longer and the handling felt very wallowy

edit: oh, with a 6 degree rise

Steel 456 here rides very well at 95mm. But do have loads of spacers and high rise bars. Actually feels too high when I wind out the forks to 140mm. Think I need to tinker more to find happy medium.

it was a racey feel i was looking for.

i too have lots of spacers at the moment, maybe need higher bars

I ran mine with 100mm and still do occasionally (U-turn) and it feels good.

Remember the heat tube and stack height is pretty low so you need to run a lot of spacers to get the stem/bars up to ‘normal’ height. Especially if you have the 16″ frame.

Using long travel forks to get the bars to the correct height sounds like a rediculous idea. Just use stem spacers/stem with some rise/high rise bars.

    thanks for the input.

40mm risers ordered to replace the 20mm ones i’m using at the moment, and i’ll continue to run with the stack of spacers
