    cheap as unles syou are certain she will practice – get into it.
    Take someone with you as a lot of variation in cheap ones even from the same model/manufacturer.
    Make sure you get one that is in tune along the whole fret board – hence take someone with you bit

    My son has a half size Stagg C510 from eBay, it has a really nice tone for a “school” guitar. The equivalent 3/4 is model C530 and there are loads of new ones around £40 on the bay. We got ours from Normans, and delivery was quick. These are classical style , with nylon stringing.

    Would nylon strings be better than steel for a youngster?

    If she wants to learn for fun, playing pop and rock, I’d probably go steel acoustic or electric rather than classical, but my son and daughter were getting classes in school and everyone was on classicals, so that’s what I got them. I can’t play but from the one’s I’ve held, steel seems to need much less pressure fretting hand.

    cheap as chips 3/4 classical from argos, herald i think they are. they are fine. just bought one for my 7 year old son.

    if she gets into it then you can buy a decent one, but for now i’d hold onto your cash (based on my experience of buying my daughter a ‘decent’ guitar from the outset that now sits unused and has done since about 4 weeks after she started lessons and decided she could’nt be @ssed with it.

    Higher action generally but dont hurt anywhere near as much – would say yes. Which would you prefer to hold down with your fingers nylon or steel?
    You can also get lower tension strings for either type of guitar get an electric tuner as well to save time /hassle
    Dont get lectric unles syou want to annoy the neighbours yourself. Far better tolisten to the same repetitive few motes on an acoustic than at full blast on electric – little fun listening to someone new practice guitar IMHO- I play and teach a little
