First time set up for me. Xt cassette & mech. When up at the lower end of the cassette the rear mech seems bent or out of line away from the wheel. Can’t tell whether the 2nd hand mech I got is bent or its normal to be pulled out due to the extreme chain line?

What cranks are you running and which postion is your single ring in? Mech could theoretically be pulled over, but don’t forget it could be an optical illusion from the spokes which taper off in the other direction. If you’ve just installed 1×10 then you could be over analysing your parts if you don’t get up close very often.

Does it all work and shift ok?

Each bike has its own chain line.

I would go with 51 mm if you don’t know yours.

That is the measurement from the centre of your bb to the chain ring you are running.

Thanks guys, all seems to shift fine but have yet to ride it proper.

Will check 51mm line – cheers

assuming you’re putting the chainring where the middle ring used to be and you have the correct BB spacer arrangement, then that should be OK.
