My HRV has apparently plummeted overnight and my Garmin watch was telling me it was to be a day of rest. The sensible thing then was just to do a little weights and some yoga. However… it may be day 33 of the challenge but it’s actually day 500 of my own exercise streak so I was determined to get out doors. I headed out for a little jog/walk and ended up with another 12km 🙂

    It’s a sign!!!

I’ve a pretty busy day tomorrow, so I’ll take that as a “rest” day.

After 8 days of a hacking cough leading to headaches I’ve managed two short run of 5km each in a lovely little wood in the mull of Galloway. No photos but Thursday’s run had a glorious low autumnal sun through the trees and this mornings early run had the dogs looking up trees after squirrels then running around trying to find the next one.
Pissed I won’t get 100 until 24th jan. But it might aid my argument for time off for the festive 500. Also my head is in a much better pace now I’ve managed to get a run in.

Day 34: Reeksy1 on an away trip. Reeksy2 riding at Noosa so I dropped him and spent a couple of hours sweating my eyeballs out and watching a little bit of the Hillclimb.

Thursday I did thirty minutes of press/sit ups followed by another thirty minutes of yoga. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish work early yesterday so had to make do with a run after work.
I had planned for an early morning ride today but woke up to heavy rain, it’s still raining now  but I’m determined to get a ride in at some point even if it means getting wet and muddy. A sign of things to come!

Did a late swim last night (8pm) outside and the lights weren’t on so kept hitting the wall.

Pouring here so either a late ride or Zwift.

Non-muddy parkrun this morning, but a new one for me at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. I did get a PB by over 2 minutes. Maybe this exercise mularkey is having some effect after all! (laugh emoji)

Thirty minutes of press ups and sit ups is impressive @sandboy. I’d be taking a zero off that 🙂

Pretty flooded by the Wye, but trails just muddy and good fun in the sunshine. So far this week 4 runs/30km, one Zwift tour of Watopia thing that ended up being a bit of a race and this MTB ride. I think maybe an easy day tomorrow, legs were pretty dead after “broken mile” run last night.

The ground in images below are not meant to be underwater!

Still too wet outside so did a Zwift race, 40 minutes of zone 4. Utterly knackered.

Wussed out of park run this morning as it was lashing it down. Went to the gym for an hour instead.

Taking my daughter and a couple of friends to Alton towers tomorrow. Does walking round there all day count?

It’ll count if you go on the ghost train.

Was going to walk or run today in the weather but ended up playing tennis, slightly randomly. Another activity where I didn’t ride a bike, bu I did also go to look at a new (2nd hand) bike nearby. It’s lovely, mint condition, exactly the bike I’d buy… But that’s nother activity logged where I didn’t ride a bike that I already have. I said I’ll sleep on it.

It’s fright fest or something, so the whole place is a ghost train at the moment!!

Edit: just buy it @jimmy and then ride it home!

2.5k in the pool in my usual 58 mins, then a yoga class.

lovely sunny afternoon so road bike out, maybe for the last one of the year before swopping  to gravel bike. A glorious 23 miles on mainly dry roads.

@iainc – what you need is a winter road bike 😉

    ^^^ hahaha 🙂

I am actually n-1 having sold the eroad bike a few weeks ago, as it was just gathering dust. However I think one of the gravel bikes will cover any winter road ventures …

The rain didn’t stop until late afternoon by which time a ride wasn’t an option.

I was determined to exercise outside so did my usual run in torrential rain which wasn’t too bad because it is very mild. Running in the rain isn’t as bad as cycling and I was straight in the shower as soon as I got home. Followed by enjoying the football knowing I was done for the day.

If not for this challenge, there’s no way I would have run in those conditions, I believe this is what makes all the difference come Christmas, being motivated when at any other time it wouldn’t be in my mind.

Very well done to everyone who’s still going, it great to read what you have been doing and the photos are as good as ever.

Edit, The sit/press up is a little workout i did sometimes as a warm up for rugby training as a teenager and have done it a few times a week since then.

@ads678, I’d definitely be counting a jaunt around Alton Towers for a day. I think you’d be surprised at how far you walk.

As promised (to myself) I’ve limited day 34 to some weights in the gym (though I might manage a sneaky wee Kassandra later).

Day 34: a couple of hours walk up and around a local hill that I haven’t ventured up before.

It was lovely but I’ve got to get out on a ride soon.

Wet and windy here again today, I got out first thing for a run so I can enjoy the day knowing that I have done my bit.
The forecast is better for the coming week so hopefully I’ll get some pedalling instead of running.

After Covid and Flu boosters yesterday, this was all I was good for. As ever, whenever I do some yoga rather than just saying I’ll do some, it makes me realise how much more I need to do it. Hips with the flexibility of a railing! Still the challenge made sure I did something rather than just moping about feeling sorry for myself.

In non 100 day news, I finally finished editing my last vid for Molini. Here’s a screen grab. I was really tired on that last day – so I’m thinking about trips next year and hoping this kind of challenge will get me in better shape. I mean smashing beer and wine every night while we’re away might also be contributing, but no change of me giving that up!

In anticipation of the stormy weather went climbing indoors. Good, but all the while staring at calm, bright blue skies outside ?

I wrote a thing: https://www.pickled-hedgehog.com/a-weighty-problem-2/ about the challenge. Well I get to it eventually 😉

It does have the odd sweary word.

@ton, I love that, I started out on a BMX in the early eighties and the skills I learned as a kid have served me really well over the years.

Day 36: a lazy hour gravel and tarmac local lap. Attacked by two separate magpies. No blood drawn.

Day 36. The weather forecast screwed my day over a bit. Ashley was supposed to fly through this morning and I’d planned to take a walk up a wee hill afterwards to check for storm damage. Well, it didn’t really arrive until the evening so all my delaying meant I had to grab some indoor exercise instead. Managed 90 minutes of Zone 2 on the turbo and some easy yoga with Kassandra this evening.

Yeah, Ashley confused my plans a bit. I’d assumed it’d be a write off for the day but it was actually quite a nice day so did 12 miles on the bike around town. The ride home in the evening though was wild – too windy to safely ride the canal towpath.

Had a big night out on Friday so just went up Arthur’s Seat on Saturday and took my crawler with me which was flipping brilliant.

Then a run up one of the 7 Hills of Edinburgh this morning in the sun.

I spent last week taking it easy on the bike and feel much better for it – despite, as it turns out, doing 100 off road miles. I’ll start pushing on this week. Seems sometimes to get fitter you have to do less to gain more.

a planned easy Wattbike session last night that turned out more Z3 than Z2, anyways, legs feeling fine today on the early dog walk, so will be another trundle in my garage this evening, hopefully an outdoor pool swim tomorrow…

Not been able to get on much this week on account of hosting a visit by my dad.

Did alreet though. Hour at the trails before he arrived. 4 hours around Matlock Bath and heights of Abraham one day. Another four hours around Newark Air Museum. Got an hour yoga in yesterday and a small weights session in Saturday (when my body was screaming ‘take a rest day’ – silly me). Used 30 minute evening yoga to fill the gaps.

If I take nothing else from this challenge I will still be happy with extra mobility I am starting to get from these yoga sessions.

    We’ve passed the 1/3 mark.

I’ve missed one day so far – trying to fit a half day at work, and a long haul flight into one day, and then having a heavy thunderstorm ruin my only possible window for a half hour walk.

With the miserable weather recently, I’d like to thank the challenge for forcing me out for a walk or urban bike ride (or onto zwift) probably 4 times out of the last 7 days when I would have otherwise retired to the couch.
