Doing the KISS Americas AM Race shortly, was contemplating doing the Australian E-Crit - but just watching it live now and I'm glad I didn't ha.

That was rather hard!!

Legs are still hurting - particularly evident when climbing. This meant that 2x box hill was reallllly fun!!

https://zwiftpower.com/race.php?id=6937

I finished before Mariaud on my screen... I guess it's still being finalised as strava is indicating my best 20 min effort was 322w not 313w per zwiftpower?

I see knocking out a 1:39 in the charlotteville 50 on Sunday doesn't seem to have slowed Tim down!

I don't enjoy racing against him, he's a machine ๐Ÿ˜†

I'm not a fan of Richmond, the hill before the finish line is a killer!!

3x laps done:

[img] [/img]

1st place DQ'd
3rd place using ZP and no HRM

So I may have a second place, providing Zwiftpower sorts itself out: https://zwiftpower.com/race.php?id=6915

9.30am kiss down under for me tomorrow. Will be my B cat debut race. Due to timings I'll likely have a decent length warm up for this one too.

Nice one. Will try and keep you in sight for 100m at least.

Bit long for me so may die after lap3

Cool, decent field for this one. I'm going to have a play pre-race with the virtual resistance setting, at times for sprints etc i could do with an extra gear, so will move the slider up 10-15% and see if that gives me 1 gear lower generally to give me the final bit if needed.

Goal for today is to beat 2 B's.... If i can manage that, i'll be far from unhappy. Will be curious to see from your link above what sort of affect that has on my Zwiftrankings, it's not something i've seen before in detail, but in the last few weeks i've picked up 6 gold/silver and only clawed back a few points from 1 DNF i had. I'm getting between 3 and 6 points for winning a C race, i lost 28 points for a DNF....
Looking at your results, an A podium gets you 30 ! Obviously i'm not going to A podium.. but i'll be curious to see what a back end of B gets.

Do points not depend on size of field? I did a flat 1 lap race this week and not only got upgraded from C but miraculously won B, for this I only got 6 points.

Seems a reasonable assumption. I got 3 points for the race i did with Nath, i got 13th in an Uncatagorised race.

Althoguh, Nath got -9 points and finished right next to me as he was pacing me, so maybe it uses what you SHOULD be getting as an expected result too ?

Weeksy - if you match and then recover from the mad rush at the start then staying at the business end of B group isnt that hard, its the start that destroys me. Feeling a little dead this morning and its going to be a fasted ride so not sure what performance i will get plus i will be pressed for time so no warm up today. Lets give them hell!

I'm heading in there soon for a LONG arse warm up... need to get some longish slower rides in so will start with a good 60-70 mins pre-ride.

Yeah, i'm getting better at getting out with B's these days.. But today, we'll see ๐Ÿ™‚

Going to be hard this morning to avoid a stitch having just eaten breakfast...

Regarding points it depends on the strength of field, this is then multiplied out to give the number of points available. From that you have a projected finishing position, this is used to minus points from your finishing position and then if you get a podium finish you get some bonus points.
http://zwiftrankings.com/vcr/client/help/help-overview

Currently it's 1452 points to get elite status, I have 1417 but I haven't done one of the categories of race - the ultra short go all out for 10km type of race. Once I do one of those I should have enough points to move up...

Key thing is weeksy is stick with the rest of the Bs for the first couple of miles at all costs. It settles down after that.

Notes for future reference.

1. Fasting the night before your debut B race is bad
2. Eat a better breakfast
3. 57 mins at 33kmh isn't a warm up
4. When you're still with the As after 1.5 lap of Volcano flat, that's too fast.
5. when you're hanging with group2 after 2.5 laps, that's still fast.
6. You will hit the wall and die on your ar5e after 3 laps...
7. Bonking is BAD.... sooooo bad !
8. Lemon merangue pie is great recovery food
9. Scales say 14st 7, a new adult low for me !

Yeah that's too much of a warmup Weeksy, burns too many calories. 10-20 mins at high cadence is always enough for me.

My HRM failed 30 secs before the race, couldn't get it reconnected in time. Joined the race 3 miles in and sat with the bunch until 200m before the line were I left them to it.

Really annoying as I felt really good today, look at my average HR!!! https://www.strava.com/activities/981035194

Weeksy - send me some pie. I didnt see the finishing table at the end, was there one or was i too busy trying not to combust. Great news on the weight front, keep it going.
That was pretty much my limit, i had nothing left in the tank. I dont know where i finished but i was dropped with about 900m to go. I think i was around 10th may be and about 30 secs behind leaders. Nathan was towards the front but not sure he was officially in the race.
I always seem to do better on an empty stomach but it always leaves me feeling really drained.

blimey weeksy, that's impressive sustained weight loss

I lost about 1 1/2 stone in the past year but if I'm honest that's mostly over about 4 months last summer and down to cutting out the shite from my diet much more than doing more exercise (though that's up probably 20 percent too). I've reached a plateau/nadir now and seem to be holding it but not really lost any more since the end of last summer.

Not complaining - I don't seem to be [s](as)[/s] diabetic any more, so that's good

Best thing is, it hasn't been hard. I'm still eating mostly stuff that would make some on here cringe and fear for my life. But I rarely drink alcohol so that helps and along with the 5-2 diet and more training that's been enough.

I've jumped into xc racing and done better than previously, jumped on a road bike Crit and did about as badly as you'd expect, I've picked up strava koms on flat and hills, along with top 10s on sections I have no right to at my size lol.

Looking at the fast xc racing lads I've come to terms I'd need to drop another 2 st to compete even in open at a pointy end or even troubling top 10. So I've accepted that's not going to happen and accepted my place in the grand scheme of things.

I can safely say that not only have I never been lighter, but have never been fitter and in life overall I've never been happier. Its so many wins on so many levels.

Early results show me as just 10 seconds behind winner. It has put me in the B category as it says i needed a hr reading, i dont recall that in the race info plus i finished with 3.49w/kg and wants to put me in the A cat!

I moved up 50 points in the Zwift rankings yesterday (1 Lap WBR race). They weren't expecting me to start that sprint when I did. I very nearly held on as well - whilst breathing out of every orifice I have.

It seems to choose categories based on your power irrespective of whether you specify a category or not sometimes.

Cat As need a HRM - it's always been that way - that's why I tried to get mine sorted.

Lesson learned - don't leave it to the last few seconds before trying to join a race lol.

DQs you if you're an A without an HRM though in all cases I've seen? Doesn't just downgrade you to B.

Anyone racing today?

I'm going to do an afternoon race as I'm busy all morning (for a change lol).

Today I plan on attending:
WBR 15:05 or 16:05 4x lap race
If I miss those then the back up is 18:00 PRS

I was planning to, but feeling pretty lousy today, so not sure. Interesting they've appeared in the calendar - there was a huge gap between 13:05 and 17:30 when I looked the other day.
