How do people do it?

Currently Jen is doing an FTP on my account. She is only going to use it occasionally so no point in paying for another account. This leads me to ask, whats the best approach?

Ta P.

My oh just rides on my account. I export the Strava activity for her (once a week so not a pain) then delete her ride from my account. She has no interest in racing so does not cause issues.

Depends on what the other person is using it for and whether you can be bothered with the hassle of adjusting settings every time. If just pootling around it probably makes no difference, however for workouts it will be a bit of a pain as individual FTP's are used to calculate the workout zones so you'll need to remember to manually adjust it every time you switch riders. Similarly height & weight are important factors in speed calculations so if using for racing or you want accurate calculation of speed and distance then they will also need adjusted.

Also worth keeping in mind it is against terms of service, I am not sure if or how they enforce this but I guess there's always a chance you find yourself suddenly locked out your account if they decide to enforce.

Personally we have 4x accounts in the house, pay for 2 adult ones and 2 free ones for the kids.

The next step from @nixie's (pretty common?) arrangement is for the occasional user to resubscribe only whenever their free 25km expires - so pay a month ride that month PLUS 25km (and the end of that ride), repeat. That's what we do. It allows for times when my wife rides a lot (at which point we pay) and times when she doesn't (when it's free). There's even a sweetspot in there where she rides quite a lot but a month's subscription covers 5/6 weeks in effect.

The 25km has never expired mid-race for us (partly by accident, partly by design) so I don't know how that would work. Freeriding it's no issue.

I think they should offer a family account for these situations.

Eat/diet as required until you both weigh the same, then crack on with zwifting

My daughter has started using zwift but I haven't changed the settings. She was puffing up the last climb in the centre of Harrogate last night when I told her she was pedalling my 13st instead of her 9 st

Just in case folk don't know, zwift is free if you're under 16.

I use my son's zwift account and just download the fit file from the website and export. Normally I adjust the weight up to mine. Small faff, but dont use it enough to warrant spending

Just have separate accounts. If you're prepared to spend $$$$ on a bike and turbo-trainer then you may as well make things easy for yourself.

I've bookmarked the strava dashboard in chrome on my mobile and set it to always open in chrome instead of the app. That removes 99% of the hassle for me. Her having an account for once a week is not worth it, neither is altering the weight/height settings for when she uses it (she just rides around).
