I'm thinking of going to Zermatt in a couple of weeks,
Any accommodation ideas? Don't want to spend £££ but I do want a private room.

We had a cracking apartment a few years ago off Airbnb. Last min and was quite affordable and dead centre. There were 4 of us though.
We've stayed in Tasch a couple of times plenty of quick cheap transfer options, the train only takes 10 mins and then you walk across platform to mountain railway.

I was going to say the same. The advantages of Cervinia are lower prices and Italian restaurants for dinner. The disadvantage is the long slog on the T-bar back up the Glacier to Cervinia if the weather is grim.
