Transport Tycoon! Nice one Drac.
Loved that game had a huge Tycoon going massive railways, roads and airports that I could afford to upgrade the vehicles every year. For some reason though it would always crash at a certain point so never got to see just how much my empire would be worth.
Dammit, how could I have forgotten Chuckie Egg! Genius!
- Elite (BBC)

- Riven (PC late 90s)

Final Fantasy 6
UFO Enemy Unknown
F16 Fighting Falcon (Atari ST)

Played other good games but those 5 were the ones that were on another level entirely.

Golden eye
Horace goes skiing
Manic miner
Gran turismo
Resident evil
Half life series

Civ is crap anagellis, wtf are you on about? Closed game, no mystery, no open-endedness or exploration. Yawn.
Halflife was a great game btw but didn't last long enough. Halflife two was mindblowingly good too but I didn't finish it cos my puter played up 🙁
i should have also added zelda the wind waker to my post.it is a fantastic game.(i actually thought that the art was fantastic/different.was quite a brave move by shigeru miyamoto.)damn, why did i only say 5 games.

Ooh just been reminded of Portal.
Can i swap HL2 for the orange box, then i get portal as well.
Portal is great as a concept game to show it off. I think they are looking to include it in the next episode of HL or poss HL3.
Its a mind bending thing use, one step up form the grav gun. If they introduce it to a fast paced online DM game it will take some getting use to.
SmashTV on the SNES. I spent A LOT of time playing it, usually at about 3am on a Saturday morning after clubbing 🙂
Gauntlet worth a mention too - I never got tired of hearing "Wizard needs food, badly!" 🙂
God what a great thread... im a total geek still after all these years after my zx spectrum!
impossible to answer but i'll give it a go going in a time line styleee
1 - Manic Miner (zx) - the original classic
2 - Bubble Bobble (Amiga)- jump from spectrum 128k to amiga was huuuuge!!
3 - Tomb Raider (PS1)- amazing graphics and was just such a jump!
4 - Grand theft auto - (PS2) again amazing jump, open world environment!
5 - Call of duty - massive jump again with graphics and online play
again i agree with most of the above...
gauntlet - amazing
populous - first proper point and click
gran turismo - (ps2) wasted my life on that
syphon filter (ps1)
thing is these days the graphics are in another world but most of the games dont have the gameplay the old ones did?
Oh yeah, Day of the Tentacle. Took me months to complete but was so worth it.
Elite, BBC disc version. You could not become Elite on the tape version. Analog Voltmace joystick, hmm i played that most days for years.
Half Life Orange box
Gran Turismo, can't decide which version. Probably one with the Pikes Peak Escudo in it.
Command and Conquer, probably Generals/Zero Hour +/- some mods.

i'm not a gamer but i remember a fantastic game that took my imagination when i was about 16 (19 years ago) it was called slaughterhouse, anyone else remember it? we used to play it in arcade version when the shows (fair) came to town. another one i remember fondly was 1941 a ww2 plane shoot-em up probably from when i was 10 years old. i'd be interested if anyone knew where to download these games for pc........
1) Elite - BBC Tape version, killed how many thargoids before realising couldn't become Elite until I bought a disc drive 🙁
2) UFO Enemy Unknown
3) Ultima Underworld
4) Max Payne
5) Half Life series
There was also a PC flight sim that took many hours of my life where you flew an F22, but also got to conduct the war from an Awacs in a persistant campaign etc, forgot the name though
Too many to choose but this thread brings back some good gaming memories
Not really ever been into 'puter games but I really liked European Air War - more of a sim than a game. Unfortunately the Dell we've got now won't play it though.
Don't think I've played five games other than Space Invaders and Pacman.
1) Joint Operations
2) Joint Operations
3)Unreal Tournament
4) Age of Empires 2
5)Call of Duty 4
Seriously Everyone should try Joint Operations online, amazing! 😯
Guess I would like to put MS Combat flight simulator with the joystick in too, but Joint Operations must be recognised!
falcon 3 and 4
richard burns rally
GTA san andreas
oblivion
halflife 2
matt-p
f22 adf and total air war. great games
fellow sim freak, you are not alone :O)
The first Delta Force playing online with 16 others on 56k it was mind blowing.
1) Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2)
2) Burnout 3 Takedown (Xbox)
3) Metal Gear Solid (PSX)
4) SWOS (Amiga)
5) Resident Evil 2 (PSX)
Just thinking of the speccy/C64 games I've missed out...
Times move on!
Speedball 2 (Amiga)
Kick Off 2 (Amiga)
Nemesis (MSX)
COD4 (360)
PGR3 (360)
Then I suppose:
Manic Miner (and JSW)
Falcon 4.0
F1/11 Interceptor (Amiga)
Eric and the Floaters (MSX - just liked the name)...
The Great Giana Sisters (Amiga - just cause it looked so good)
No one put in for World of Warcraft yet?
1 WOW
2 Elite
3 IL2 Sturmovik (way better than MS Combat 3 flight sim)
4 Sim City 2000
5 TV Sports football on my mates Amiga.
WOW No sorry it's evil wasted weeks of life playing that, gaming buddies back playing it I can here them now on our VOip trying to do an instance.
Never mind they'll wipe soon and then we'll play worms.
Bollocks. I've just remembered I loved R-Type too. Oh, and Stunt Car Racer (good call).
I never considered myself much of a gamer but I'm tempted to bin the wife tonight and break out the Mame emulator on the original XBox for a bit of R-Type and Gauntlet...
