I've just bought a small van as I'm starting a too-far-to-ride job in the new year. Obviously the other reason for a van is for carrying bikes and kit at the weekend. It's not ply-lined yet, so is a blank canvas for racking and storage.
So, how do you organise yours? Just sling it in the back and let it all side around, or more elegant? Pictures appreciated, (uness you own a fully Sortimo spec'd Vito, then I'll just be jealous 🙂 )

No pics - have VW Caddy which is ply lined, but that doesn't count for much. I just use a single bungee attached to the metal work to hold the bike to the side of the van; often have one on each side. Can fit 2 DH bikes (just) like this with all kit dumped inbetween them.

Bit minimalist. I was thinking some kind of stand for a couple of bikes, big box on one side perhaps some shelving for plastic tote-bins.
Does the ply-lining make them much quieter, seemed quite noisy on my test drive. I used to have one that had lining, but it was some years ago so I don't really remember.

If you don'y ply-line then you stand a good chance of denting it from the inside. I'm fitting mine out at the moment and just intend to put some hooks on the side and use old inner-tubes as bungees to hold them upright.

I've considered making some sort of rack - probably "toblerone" shaped. The pieces of ply, with slots cut in one to hold the wheels upright.

Someone on STW posted a very clever rack made of plastic pipe - using standard plumbing joints. It looked well cool, but I reckon 3 bits of ply would be cheaper!

Best thing I did to my van was to put vinyl down and along the bottom foot of the sides - every so often I'd park it on a slope, open the back door and hose it out

Added bonus of ply-lining is that the wheel arches are far easier to sit on. If I have a van again, I'd probably put a load of sound deadening material behind the ply.

Unfortunately the first owner didn't make this connection. It's in a LOT better condition than some of the wrecks I looked at though.

I think I saw those instructions for the rack, clever but I think you're right your method would be cheaper.

That's a smart interior Mandog!

Just don't try to be doing it in December when temperatures are hovering around 0 degrees, OK?

I've had to use a hot-air gun to heat up the "tar" on the flashing tape to get it to stick.

Any breath condenses on the cold roof of the van and either drips onto you or freezes causing massive condensation issues on the inside of the windscreen when you come to drive it.

And your fingers go numb within 10 minutes or so.

🙂

On the van walls, I have...

flashing tape
4mm sound insulating foam
50mm Celotex/Kingspan
That silver-foil bubble-wrap stuff
then the ply.
Next to be carpeted...

The roof has recycled plastic bottle insulation in all the nooks and crannies of the structural members and I'm about to stick two layers of 10mm camping mat onto the spaces between. This will then be covered by more silver bubble wrap, then ply and carpet.

Floor has two layers of 4mm foam and one of silver bubble stuff. I'm currently looking at vinyl for the floor but worried that some of the household stuff is a bit "fragile".
