Has anyone else on here found the series "Toast of London". If you have you'll understand the thread title, if not, and that's pretty much everyone as far as I can see, you've missed an excellent and very funny series.

Why would Channel 4 bury this gem. I found it rummaging about on 4OD, All4 as it's called now.

It was fairly heavily advertised, and Matt Berry won a BAFTA as best male in 2015. Buried, it was not.

More importantly, you're right, it's outstanding. Ray Purchase is my favourite comedy character in years. The episode with the gay porn voiceover is absolute genius.

If you like Matt Berry, search for his BBC shorts, very very NSFW.

Matt Berry is a genius. Loved Toast and House of Fools!

Bizarrely, he also has a prog rock band, and they're really good!

'Buried' implies 3am on the Pick channel - it was on Channel 4, series 3 not long finished. Series 2 (I think) featured the best exorcism by homeopathy ever filmed 🙂

Maybe it was a bit more popular than I thought, but I'd never heard anyone mention it, or seen a trailer. The man is pure quality, but I'd only ever seen him in the IT crowd, or heard his Absolue 80's radio voiceovers.

Thanks fro heads up on his other stuff. Youtube blocked at work, I'll have look this evening.

Its a great show, love the use of the voiceover scenes for intro/outro as a consistent side joke through the series. Makes you realise what good comedy is capable of if let off the leash a bit. He was good in The Mighty Boosh too (first series only I think)

a bit? 😆

Winning a bafta and being critically acclaimed across the board, I think it had decent ratings as well. You're in for a treat. I'm jealous, I'd love to discover it again.

I love the incidental characters' names.

They must have fun thinking them up.

"I thought you said you were from Iran" still makes me laugh like a school kid.

Have a look for snuff box if you can. Only got 1 series but is one of my favourites.

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place has Matt Berry at his best too, and it's another great series no one talks about.

Love the hipster put downs ('you malnourished pimp with your World War 1 facial hair and your sister's clothes'). Love the episode where Toast and Clancy Moped go on a double date with the Robert Bathurst character and 'Penvelope'. Jane Plough is ace 🙂

I love it. But it just makes me want more Dark Place. Dark place, dark place dark place. And bits of sick.
