My lower back has locked itself in spasm suddenly this afternoon, second time in two months. Usually only goes once a year, 3-4 trips to the physio sorts it.

Wondering whether to try a different physio or treatment this time to see if a fresh pair of eyes/hands/needles may make a difference. Or am I just allowing the frustration of two more good planned rides being missed cloud my thinking?

What exercises/changes in lifestyle have you made since seeing the physio last time?

The problem isn't the physio but what you are doing / not doing in between times

Doing all the stretches and core work recommended. Nothing has changed, only my ability to bend over to remove my trousers

You have yellow flags - psychological issues that mean it is more difficult for your back to get or stay better. It's your back you are the one that needs to maintain it. Physio, osteo, or chiro may be able to make it feel better for a short time, but you are the only person on this planet who can make any real long term difference to it.

Yes, I know that. My point was that after 2-3 years of pretty much the same treatment/prevention work, might it be worth trying something/someone different.

To answer that specifically, it's probably a no.

How about keeping a diary of every single bit of exercise that you do to prevent back pain and see if you're doing as much as you think you are.
