I give you Go Outdoors.

Ordered hanger for my calibre, a week later get an email saying there actually wasn't any stock. Get an email from them saying there back in stock, so ordered one, same happens again.

Seen a really nice t shirt, ah, it's in the 2 for 35 quid offer, picks another one, one I actually wanted doesn't arrive, as yes, you guessed it, turns out it wan't in stock. Charged full price for the other one.

Ordered a nice Rab insulated jacket for the wife, size 8, turns up now, and it's a size 12.

You'd be as well shouting at the moon as expecting any sense for their customer services dept as well.

Who's worse?

You really need to ask?

I'd suggest the DFS/Sports Direct of the bicycle world....

Aren't GO on the brink of collapse?

Anyway, I vote for Tredz. Bless 'em they just can't stop losing stock in their warehouse can they?

ROSE Bikes. Shortly followed by any websites that show "In Stock" when they have nothing, Triton Cycles for example.

Stevie750, I tried millets too, they pulled the same trick, so Blacks are out by association.

Evans Cycles customer service would be described by Boris Johnson as ‘world class’. Not an online purchase but when it went wrong it became all online.

I went in to the Plymouth Evans Cycles in July as I was out for a ride and popped in and ordered a bike to be delivered on the basis that it actually had a stock date. The sales assistant was great and took all my details, had a chat about bikes etc.
Stock date came and went and then got an email to say they had dispatched the bike to me without my address on it and surprise, surprise it wasn’t delivered and had been returned to ‘a holding warehouse’. They went on to say it was my fault as I hadn’t given them the address - despite clearly giving it to the sales assistant who I watched typing it in to their system.
I then entered the labyrinthine world of Evans Cycles customer service which Kafka could have used for the basis of The Trial. All I wanted was for them to put my address on the box and send it to me, surely not that difficult?
However, in the world of Evans Cycles customer services there is absolutely no way you can actually speak to anyone, it’s only by email or Facebook which appear to be staffed by different people every time, with seemingly no access to previous emails/messages or any interest in reading them and who specialise in giving contradictory responses. They don’t appear to get simple concepts of ‘I’ve paid quite a lot of money for this bike and here’s my address for the fifth time, can you please put it on the box and get the delivery company to deliver it?’
I rang the shop assistant I placed the order with who were really embarrassed and helpful and they contacted customer services but were told they had no influence over the delivery and it was in the hands of customer services.
3 months later and multiple messages with ‘Mike/Dan/Rachel/John/Angela is on it’ or ‘you’ve not given us your address and we will be cancelling your order’ type responses....it suddenly turned up. Thanks the stars nothing was wrong with it and I didn’t have to contact them to get it sorted out. Never, ever, ever again.
Thanks for giving me the time to tell my story. I am still trying to get closure and this has helped.

Evans are the ones I remember doing the "sorry it's out of stock" thing after ordering on the website - I had a note against the bookmark for years "Do not use!". But I have used them and they've been fine, mostly.
Sending a bike with no delivery address though, that's pretty special.

Easyjet get my vote at the moment. Sold flights on routes they new would not exist, and even after routes have been shut down they aren't cancelling he flights. That's in addition to making thousands wait months for refunds, shafting their staff, and generally being ****y.

Go Outdoors are renowned for their incapable online presence. I've never ordered anything online or reserved it for collection having read the general concensus on camping FB pages. I just call in and if it's in my hand then they have it in stock.

My current vote for goes to Wish. Ordered something from there, they claimed to have dispatched it but it never came and they just kept putting the expected delivery date back and back and wouldn't let me get a refund until about 6 months later when they finally gave up. The part was never in stock and never got shipped.

ROSE Bikes.

As resident fan-boi I need to object to this, good prices, fast delivery, excellent backup (I stripped a thread in the integrated seat clamp, almost certainly my fault, new ones cost £18, they sent me one FOC) and even quite responsive and flexible when cock-ups occur (I specced a new bike with 50/34 chainrings, they didn't have that chainset in stock, I persuaded them to take 50/34t chainrings off shelf and fit them instead, and this was all via google translate).

Am gutted they won't be shipping to UK by time I can afford my next bike.

Also, just to derail thread further, am currently very happy with Probikekit, I ordered a saddle despite a very confusing mix of price, product title and product description (basically RRP was basic model, title was for super pimp model and description was for a completely different saddle). Despite alerting them to this (I didn't want to receive the completely different saddle) they honoured the product title and sent me a super pimp £180 saddle for £60 when they could just as easily have said nah sorry, not in stock.

Amazon have been raking it in for years, but the pandemic has made so many more people turn to them to provide goods, for which they pay a pittance in taxation.

I know it's a "dont blame the player, blame the rules" scenario, but still...

Has anyone tried to contact Hermes online or otherwise?

I have had some spectacular issues with drivers ticking the "Customer wants to return" when they have made one failed attempt to deliver the parcel and then decide to cut their losses and not have to go again

You can try their "Chatbot" which is a never ending rabbit tunnel

You can try their phone line - which is the same

basically, they admitted that their driver did it and that the contract says 3 attempts to deliver - but I lost my parcel - got no apology and wasted several hours trying to get somewhere!

Autodoc, the car parts site. It's a uk based website, but what is not made clear is that all parts are actually shipped from Germany.

In fairness the parts did turn up , about 2 and a half weeks after ordering them. Not much good when your car is waiting in the garage after failing it's mot.

JD Sports, who own Go Outdoors as it happens.

Wife ordered some cheap tracksuit bottoms for the kids.

She orders 4 pairs...They delivered 3... The delivery note stated 4.

From the minute we raised it with them, the assumption from their end was that we were lying.  After calling them (disconnected twice) and then using the online chat, they asked us to fill in a form stating that we had not received the parcel, which is clearly wrong.  I amended the form but they refused to do anything without me signing a form that stated I had not received the form.  The fact that the courier had a photo of my front door with the parcel in front of it seemed lost on them. I think they planned on just claiming off Hermes.

I refused, raised a Paypal case and I got my tenner back.

JD, Size?, Chausport, Sprinter, Sports Zone, Perry Sport, and Aktiesport, Glue, JD Gyms, and Finish Line. Its outdoor brands include Blacks, Millets, Tiso and GO.

Taking a quite look at the replies to their posts on Twitter and Facebook doesn't paint a pretty picture.

No one who had the misfortune to use lastminute.com for travel hit by cv19 will ever be using them again, they even disputed my charge back claim initially. I just wish trustpilot would only show reviews over the last Yr & allow zero stars.

I've ordered a couple of pairs of Levi's jeans from Asos and found out they use MyHermes for delivery. This probably isn't going to go well is it?

Craghoppers.  Attempted about 5 times to buy something off their useless laggy site. Finally made it through to checkout without all my items vanishing to find there is no card payment option, only some klarna thing which wants me to pay in installments. What rubbish. Oh well £150 saved.

JD Sports

It's a mixed bag from them. Ordered The Wife some Converse pumps, they arrived in separate deliveries, one to home, one to the shop. Returned one pair because of size. Repeated attempts to get a refund. Eventually managed it, then two days later they refunded the second pair. Repeated attempts to do the honourable thing and inform them of their mistake. No, apparently I was lying! Even with photos of the pumps on The Wife's feet, scans of the delivery notes, screenshots of PayPal refunds. They claimed the order to store was never collected, it was, so they refunded. OK, free pumps.

Go outdoors website is a joke, 110% agree with op. Ordered some sealskinz a couple of years ago, listed as in stock at local branch so ordered online and set off to collect in store. Told by staff on arrival that they weren't in stock and didn't know when they would be, explained about web order and they said website is only updated once a week. I left the store and around and hour later recieved a txt and email saying the order was ready to collect so I drove back to the same store and guess what, they didn't have any and didn't know when they would. I showed the sales assistant the txt, she apologized before saying it happens all the time and not to waste my time looking at the website

PX/on one, the reason there are such mixed reviews is because the quality control is so bad people are effectively getting different bikes sold under one model name.

For problems with Hermes you can contact/complain through Resolver. A real person will reply. Whether they respond with anything useful is another matter...

Currys - problem with a printer so need to return. Fill in this online form and we'll be in touch says the website...they were. As your item is more than 30 days old we will need to speak with you about your options, please use webchat (doesn't work and hasn't for three/four days) or call us (warning that call waiting times are 1 hour plus).

Great, guess I'm stuck with a broken printer then! Anybody know if I can take such a thing to a store?

LordGun Bicycles, I wish i had read the reviews before ordering, they put Tredz to shame.

Posted 1 day ago

What was the problem with Lordgun?

I bought a set of brakes from them a couple of months ago, having never heard of them.

Good price, arrived when they said they would and the product was fine. Looked like brakes supplied as OEM parts (came in plastic bags rather than retail packaging), but that didn't cause me any problems.

We have just had Amazon launch in Sweden as a precursor to moving into the Nordics. As a Prime subscriber (first for free delivery, then later for the TV) I went on had had a look at what it has for sale.

It's shit. Knock-off/branded Chinese tat and barely anything else.

I sincerely hope that the local businesses can hold off against this juggernaut.

They seem fine on small purchases - frames and upwards seems to be where they come undone for me.

Ordered an XS Uncle John frame and got sent a medium in a box marked XS. Returned it and got sent a Medium in a box marked Medium 🙂

Bought a Merckx frame when they had a bunch of those to sell and received ..... a Saddle and some Handlebars

Had one of their Titus-built Titus frames stolen a short while after I bought it - fitted me really well so offered them the chance to do the direct replacement thing with my insurers for the built up bike. They declined because that model and size was discontinued and sold out.... made other arrangements ....and then get a mail-out promoting the exact frames they said they didn't have, I'm my size.

Abercrombie and Fitch have an interesting returns model.

If you want to return an item, say a pair of socks, they deduct £9 from your refund to pay for returns postage. Their warehouse in in England somewhere, the address is on the prepaid label they provide. If you want to avoid that silly cost by arranging your own return postage, they will not accept it at that same warehouse and instead they insist that you send it to the Netherlands.

Funnily enough we only ever used them one.

We purchased heated mist free bathroom mirror and light combo while ago. It cost about £250. Got message to say it had been delivered and signed for but it hadn't arrived. Company couldn't account for it and offered to send another one but it was out of stock so they refunded and asked us to order a different one. we did and it arrived. A few days later the original order also arrived. A few days after that a third mirror arrived. We only ever paid for one

We now have fancy mirrors in main bathroom and two en-suites.

Resurrecting this thread to add another vote for Triton Cycles to the list - I've been waiting >two weeks for a tool to arrive they described as 'in stock', and I can't get through to them on the phone to cancel the order and buy it from a competent business instead.

Dave Hinde - that sends shivers down my spine!

After waiting yonks for some bike wheels and getting fobbed off I called round to the shop to confront them. The atmosphere turned icy when I explained my issue & I really wondered if there was going to be trouble. Got my cash back after a lot of whining from them and me saying I wouldn't leave without the refund - just stood there in the shop. Dave Hinde himself came down eventually and grudgingly gave me cash out of the till.

Yup, JD Group (Go Outdoors, Millets, Black and JD Sports) is useless, I refuse to use them again.

Keep sending wrong size and support and returns is a nightmare. I had to harass the MD to get something done last time.

Triton Cycles for example.

Came here to say this, had two abysmal CS experiences with them about a decade ago, recently "ordered" something as they were the only ones showing stock, I thought, sure 10 years is a long time maybe they give a shit now? Never got my goods, and had a terrible time of it to get a refund. Hurrah for section 75.
Top of my list of never use and actively tell other people to never give them money.
