Just got a VAT free voucher through from Machine Mart for their wood burners which is handy as I was just thinking of fitting one to the workshop/shed.

Was thinking about the large pot belly here: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/potbelly-large-cast-iron-stove (£130 inc. VAT on offer)

Or I have used one of these camping and remembered that Stoner had one. I think the seller here has pinched one of his photos:

Former would need a proper flue pieces so probably end up being quite expensive (as I would get carried away). the latter flue pipes are quite cheap and I could take it apart in summer and use it camping.

I've got the potbelly one on my workshop. You're right in thinking the flue is expensive, but it's a tidy heater and burns pretty much anything. Get one.

pot belly does look like it would take up less room. Would be making a little fireproof corner to put it in with the appropriate clearance. Looking for something with a kettle plate for making tea.

I saw that one earlier. Like the mesh round the outside but it's an odd design.

Just found this thread: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/diy-wood-burning-stove-help

Was looking at those EPDM flue gaskets as I was thinking black pipe out of the top, 45 elbow high up, convert to twin wall, through the wall, 45 twin wall elbow, twinwall straight and then a cowl. But that is expensive.

I have got a T&G roof and just got some metal box section to put on top so wasnt keen on going through the roof but it would be easier to actually go through the apex as the apex angle is 200 each side and flat and only 15 degree pitch so easier to bend one of those flexible gaskets to fit that. But then that means I have to put the burner right in the middle of the side wall. hmm

I do quite like the little frontier type and could DIY some twin wall using some large tube and rockwool but not having any luck finding 60mm diameter 45 angle bends to allow me to position it off centre.

bloody hell! They have as well! The cheek of it! 🙂

Pot bellys are nice for permanent installs. You could try and track down some salvaged cast iron drainpipe for a flue. Might just need a adaptor piece.

i was looking for some cast iron pipe after your comments in that old thread.

got no problem making my own twin wall. Got enough experience designing lab oven extensions and massive ovens for wind turbines and plenty of nomex and rockwool.
