Fortunate to get a couple of tickets for the Rugby World Cup Scotland v South Africa match (although it may not be that fortunate after all come full time!)so the wife and I are heading down in the campervan. Any one know of any decent overnight spots within easy commute to St James Park? I know the rules for such are a bit different in England but we prefer to avoid campsites. Cheers all.

There's a free car park down on the quayside next to the Cycle Hub at Ouseburn. I'm sure Newcastle City Council don't really want folk to stay overnight there ...... but ...... It's one of those places that just doesn't seem to attract any attention from the "authorities" !!!
(It's only a 15-20 min walk (up-hill) from SJP)

Cheers for that Alan, exactly what I'm looking for! As long as there is no barrier accross the entrance that will be just fine.

Well I reckon there are much nicer spots to kip than in town. I'd probably go for one of the Derwent reservoir car parks or maybe Brocollita. Both about half an hour from town.

Though the Hub does do nice bacon rolls.

I'd go somewhere near a train station outside town (toon?). We stayed on a site near prudhoe and got train in with family in the holidays, very easy.
