Ta,
Sharki to the forum please!
Presumably you can't afford camp sites after stopping for what you thought would be a cheap lunch at Hix Oyster and Seafood House in Lyme Regis?
Like wot happened to us last Saturday, when we had nothing else to do when it was raining.
We stayed at Coombe View Farm in Branscombe which was fab and rode/pushed along the Coast Path from Beer to Lyme which was good in parts but some of the steps weren't rideable.
Oops.... wrong forum? Mods please feel free to move, if appropriate. Ta.
Do they leave you alone?
Do who leave you alone? The dinos?
I can't seem to help too much here as my time between lyme and poole was a little more 5 star compared to the rest of the swcp.
Lyme Regis was my first night, a night under a beach shelter was briefly interrupted by some bored youths,'that's not a knife, this is a knife' and they soon passed on.
The next night was near the beach at Abbotsbury, a couple of locals gave up their tent for the night, we drank till 3am then snored till 8am.
The third night took me to chesil, after a 24mile walk i was offered a room from a young lady, another late, erm early morning..
Day 4, i turned up at west lulworth after a 16mile walk, i hadn't eaten and had given away a dinosaur flicker book and a toy car, i was keen to eat. So i cleaned a floor, teak oiled it and refurnised the room, then got drunk and given a room for a few night, plus food and use of the pool.
Day 5 was in swanage, i'd heard of the damage from the youths and the high drug count, bu my night on the beach was quiet.
See, i'm not such a god wildcamper..lol
When you said Jurassic I thought Whitby...
and Jurassic predates dinos by several hundred million years! Think ammonites.
For most of it... It shouldn't be a problem as long as you pitch late and decamp early.
You could try the caves at Winspit near Worth Matravers on the Isle of Purbeck. Have had several comfortable nights there over the years although sleep was probably helped by several pints before hand in the Square & Compass in Worth, a mighty fine establishment & one that's a favourite with many of the souths STWers. (Tip, if you go for the caves head left along the edge when you get down to the cliffs and you'll find a couple of quieter small caves that seem to be well protected from the wind and are bone dry)
from observing professional wild campers over the years along the East Devon stretch.. spacious unfarmed clifftop is a safe bet.. as long as you leave no trace and pitch late and inconspicuously and leave early as mentioned above..
Barnes, you're completely, utterly wrong. The Jurassic is known as the age of the reptiles.

don't be such a pedant; will the ammonites leave him alone then. 😉
