[#7685658]

just got new phone with larger storage capacity so wanting to add more music on the device itself so its available offline (the whole cloud thing is to new-fangled for my limited capabilities).

previously (with phone connected to i tunes) i used to just drag and drop from my music library to the device. now when i do this on some albums it's only transferring some of the tracks and not the whole album. in other cases it's working fine and some it resolutely refuses to transfer any of it. also tried doing it via the send to device option with the same inconsistent results.

haven't knowingly changed any of my settings and its now doing my tits in - help please!

Personally I don't use drag and drop, I just have it set so I can tick the albums I want on my phone then hit Sync.

Is the phone logged into the same iCloud account as the PC? Maybe you can transfer ripped CDs but not purchases.

(I doubt it, it's rarely that easy. I sync like Graham and when there are issues usually end up unticking the lot and reticking the lot with a sync in between.. takes a while for 20Gb of music)

EDIT: Just reread - only some tracks from some albums? No idea 😀

According to that video it won't sync songs that you own but are only on the cloud and not the actual PC. Could be that?

having been doing what the video advises in terms of drag and drop and all tracks are down loaded onto the pc from the cloud, but still no joy with some of them. i give up!

damn you apple, all my music being in i-tunes and being to lazy to convert it all back to mp3 to escape the apple trap!

It's not a trap, well some think it is.

Sing in to iCloud on your Laptop and sign in to iCloud on your device.

When you link the phone with your laptop open iTunes (if it doesn't automatically. Then sync the phone with iTunes.

If it still fails, I'd sign out of both iClouds, turn both off and turn both on again and log back in.

I had a couple of issues when I first started with sync, but there are options that allow you to customise the sync options and such.

I'm not on my Mac nor iPhone so this is from memory.

Some clever bugger decided a while ago that drag'n'drop is passé and removed the facility. Now you have to select the tracks, click on the little white circle with three dots on at the end, then scroll down to find the bit that says sumfinc like 'copy to devise/iPhone/whatever'.
It's a bit more convoluted, but I've found it does work pretty well once you're used to it.
