A cake-sized version of the Jaffa Cake is on sale in UK supermarkets from today (April 10)

Named 'The Big One', the treat is effectively the same as a regular Jaffa Cake - with dark chocolate, sponge and an orange jam filling - but significantly larger.

I was not told either. Now at work and want one. Need one, now.

Delivery to choke-on-stench anyone?

Then why comment on a thread so blatantly aimed at Jaffa Cake fans? Or is your opinion too important to be hidden from the internet?

wwooooaahhh I didnt realise the jaffa cake was so sacrosanct,

in my defence the title was ambiguous, it didnt warn me of jaffa cake content, nor was there a disclaimer stating that only comments permitted be in praise of that nasty (supersized) processed synthetic circular nugget of cat faeces

next youll be telling me that only +ve comments be allowed on 29er threads

I'm a jaffa cake fan, but that's just wrong. The top bit, for example: it's got cake in it? No no NO. Wrong. The top bit is the jelly, not cake. Jelly in the middle? And the ratio of choc (I use the word advisedly) to cake is far too low.

No. This is a heresy, designed to cash in on the foolish.

That takes the old 'is it a biscuit or is it a cake' debate out the back and shoots it in the head.

can someone have one and let us know what it's like?
I daren't buy one for fear of it being rank.
you'd be able to tast the individual bits too much won't you?
it's like eating the cream out of a custard cream and then the biscuit on its own - it doesn't taste good, but together they're immense.

did there used to be jaffa cakes that came in a dark red packet? what were they?

I believe they are layered, so you get a taste of each component in every bite.

Didn't they get a tax break as they claimed they were biscuits and not little cakes?

Maybe they will be made to pay all the unpaid tax now. Financial crisis sorted in the uk now!

The other way around. They proved they were cakes, not biscuits. The final proof was that biscuits go soggy as they age, cakes go hard....

Spot on

As ever, I defer to my grandad's opinion, as he was one of the designers of the original jaffa cake:

"Of course it's a bloody biscuit"

Lots of biscuits get harder as they age, it's a load of cobblers.

Can someone please send one to me in Australia?! I can't find Jaffa cakes here, only disgusting imposter ones, that one giant one may just make up the serious Jaffa deficiency I am experiencing!

Best thing about Jaffa cakes is when they are dipped in fresh espresso with a huge creme head on top. Simply Devine.

Don't think you'd get that one to fit in an espresso cup, well none of mine. I will try though, just for the sake of science.

I've never seen the appeal of something the texture of stale cake with chemically-tasting 'orange' gel in the middle and a cheap and nasty chocolate-like covering...

phew! if they were sensibly priced I'd be seriously worried about becoming morbidly obese. It's like them pashmena fox forx and plastic santa cruz frames, I'll sit here and drool over pictures of them on the tinterweb, then I'll look at the price and think pffff no chance!

Have a Tim Tam.

Where are you? We've got "British" shops that have them but you'll probably pay more than seven quid for them!

I have high hopes for this as if Jaffa cake lovelyness is directly proportional to size, then it should be awesome. You see the 'mini Jaffa Cakes' are rank. Normal Jaffa cakes are lovely. I shall have to prove the theory!

Youngest daughters birthday on Tuesday and she loves normal size jaffa cakes so I've either got to get her to have her birthday tea early or somehow resist while it sits in the cupboard for two days!
