You queue, the cashier (ironically, usually a woman) tells you how much to pay, you pay, you go.
Why does the second stage seem to cause so much surprise and consternation to women-folk, resulting in the third involving a flustered search through a handbag, the size of which is normally seen slung over sailors' shoulders when boarding ship, to find a posting-stamp sized purse, who's main function seems to be to make it as difficult as possible to extract the necessary coinage and/or the bank note that fully disproves the theory that it's impossible to fold a piece of paper more than seven times?
