Given the amount of time you have spent on this thread and the content of your argument (such as it is) it would be an education and consequently time well spent.

What are you saying, Surfer? You sound almost angry. 😆

I have ADHD so I'm never going to sit through thirty minutes of Chris Hitchens.

So, summary? 😀

Look, I'll do one for Mol:

Any good bits?

Same old same old Mol. Usual narrow-mindedness and bigotry from the usual suspects (surprise surprise), with the odd interesting bit now and then, and actually some fairly civil debate, mostly.

Not something I'd bother to sit down and read from start to finish in one go though.

I can't face 18 pages of this either...it's even more boring than most church services I've been to and TBH whilst I'm not in there with millitant atheists, I do feel anyone who has faith should be good humoured about a small amount of piss taking (I think of it as payback for having had the t*ts bored off me over the years!)....I've got several friends who are clergy and they laugh along with the jokes likes the rest of my friends!

Well, Woppit called me a 'nit-wit' and a 'tit', just cos I said stuff he does not in any way agree with. 😀

He's run away now. Probbly cos I asked him a serious question. He tends to do that quite a lot. 😆

I think he's frightened of me. 😐

Question: How come believers in an all-powerfull god feel the need to leap to it's defence as if it can't stick up for itself?

But as I am a "white IT guy" my Bigotdar is considerably less fine-tuned than others. 🙂

Oh there he is! Almost as if he were 'summoned'.... 😉

Question: How come belevers in an all-powerfull god feel the need to leap to it's defence as if it can't stick up for itself?

Why does God need to 'defend' itself? From what?

Oh, and considering you're just one person, Woppit, with a fairly narrow view of things; why do you think you are 'right' and others 'wrong'?

Can you prove that you are 'right' in your beliefs?

And you are very quick to ask questions, but loathe to answer any yourself, it seems. Why not have a go at answering these?

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/why-are-you-atheists-so-angry/page/17#post-3222438

And then we'll move on to the next bit...

Unless you're frightened? 😐

Dear Fred,

Following your previous brief comment as to your personal circumstances (as it were) and having gone off and had a look at some reference material, I now realise why your posts read the way they do and why you respond in what some might describe as your own inimitable style.

I unreservedley withdraw my previous comments in this regard.

I suspect that this provides the answer to a question intermittently posed on this forum as to why you seem to be given more rope than others, by the moderators (no life ban for multiple alter-egos etc).

I won't be more specific because that's your prerogative, should you want to expand on it. Or not. As you see fit.

But I think I understand.

Woppit.

"The whole religion business will now put me in mind of diamond cutting erections and the contents of Mrs Barnsleymitches jumper. What this means in terms of intelligent design, eternality, and the literal versus figurative nature of scriptural interpretation remains open to question."

I cant really comment about anyones erections, but I can safely say the big feller upstairs was having a particularly good day when he came up with the contents of Mrs BM's jumper. And if he is a cream bun, I like to think of him as a particularly well filled elephants foot, or a custard slice. Mmmm, tasty and just a bit blasphemous! 😆

All i know is that they are a touchy lot

Aparently, they are not angry, they are just very easy to irratate

been arguing with an atheist today - you can't win

the way i look at it, either you are a beleiver or you are not a beleiver

if you are not a beleiver, then don't worry about - find something else to get angry about

i couldn't give a rats arse, unless someone starts sprouting rubbish at me, then they can f*ck right off

see, even an agnostic like me can get angry!!

The thread is dead, Fred. No one was able to show a link between the catholic church and Aids in Africa, or anywhere else. The irony being that those who insisted on that connection, did so without any proof, basing their ideas on belief. Yet mocked others for their belief in a God without proof.

So, ultimately, it's over and I won.

Thanks for playing.

dogmatix: I don't think anyone on the thread has argued otherwise.

The trouble arises because "private beliefs" (on both sides) often spill out into public areas like laws, education and justice.
