Just wondered? Are they hand made, is that the reason??
our local What shop was knocking them out well cheap I had a right load for £20
captive market
Same reason a train ticket costs a fortune on the day.
Well not really, there's a shop round here which sells them all year round and prices always seem high! The basic ingredients seem cheap so is it the labour cost??
Theyre usually bought by people with too much spare cash, and very simple minds to amuse.
And youre only going to sell them for a week or so before bonfire night.
The basic ingredients seem cheap......
Making your own would be the way to go I reckon. It can't be that hard after all - the Chinese managed it over a thousand years ago, what could possibly go wrong ? And during these difficult economic times every little bit helps. Googling 'how to make your own explosives' should point you in the right direction I would have thought 💡
Usual sarcy answer there ernie! I might also google fertiliser suppliers straight after and see how quick I get "a visit"

I believe there's laws against such things. (I used to be into model rocketry, and making your own engines was a big no-no.)
(Yes, I know you were being silly)
Tesco's was selling buy one get one free looked cheap to me
and none of the Standard rubbish.
The only supermarket fireworks that are worth looking at is the Weco range from Lidl. They're pretty good for the money.
To try to stop the yobs buying them and letting them off in the streets?
Why are fireworks so expensive?
They keep going up?
a single person hand making them one in a bunker, 100's of feet from the next person doesn't lend itself to economies of scale.
the selling regulations are pretty tough too with up front costs to the retailer
It's a boom industry.
Never seen the point in buying your own as can't compare to a public display.
1. Because they are made by wizards in sheds.
2. Insurance
