Why are Evri just completely rubbish?

Evri issues getting more traction in the mainstream media and with MPs. So Evri doubled its profits recently, but wants more so it is cutting the wages it pays its most important staff. All is good as long as the directors and owners pockets are full 🤬

Absolute crap for me last week (or so). Had the message they'd received it... it then just sat there with no movement or change for several days. I went back to the retailer I was buying from. They eventually got back to me and said Evri had told them it was lost. What did I want to do - refund or resend a replacement. As it was wanted as a present I said replace. Quite a few days later I got an Evri message saying it was out for dispatch... when I checked refence numbers I realised it was the original. I then got Evri message giving a time for delivery.... time passed, wasn't delivered, then message from them sorry they were late, then another saying it wouldn't be coming that day... went to bed. It had been delivered at some time that night.  What a shower.

We are lucky, a local courier company in Oban handles all deliveries to the island - Evri, Yodel, DHL and the rest. Everyone knows the drivers by name and I’ve yet to have anything go missing between the depot and here in over 4 years. You can also leave your door unlocked so even if you’re not in, it will be left inside. On the rare event that something gets mis-delivered there’s usually a post on FB with the POD photo and it gets tracked down.

I saw a Faceache post where an MP was saying she had written to the MD of Evri and he wanted details of postcode areas most affected. Cue hundreds of idiot constituents posting full details of their missed deliveries inc what it was and their full addresses. It did highlight that Evri are completely shite but some people are really quite thick. There’s also a BBC article showing that then drivers are only paid for deliveries so they just lob stuff anywhere and mark as delivered..

Evri are undoubtedly rubbish, but ... I recently had 2 orders from Runners Need. In both cases they claimed "next day delivery". In both cases the actual Evri label showed they'd been delivered with a 2-day service. So unless Evri took "next day" money and provided 2 day service (not impossible) it seems that the shop advertised one thing and supplied another. I had been fuming about Evri not delivering my running shoes when I expected them, but maybe it was not actually their fault.

I don't have a very high opinion of Evri, but we've also had no normal RM deliveries for more than a week here now.

It's a bit ironic really... haveing ranted about an Evri screw up earlier in this thread I've since had another delivery by them.... perfect, notifications, timing, knock on the door delivery, pleasant driver etc.

However, I'm now waiting for a Royal Mail delivery.... been delivered to wrong depot, sat there for a couple of days, now somewhere else (Milton Keynes) and no further update. The on-line shop don't seem that interested....

Ordered a flat pack workbench on the 15th January.

It arrived at the local depot on the 19th, so made decent progress over a weekend.

It then just sat there, so I contacted the seller on the 23rd, a Friday, they contacted me on Monday, to say it was assumed lost and they would resend.

HTF do you lose a flatpack workbench? The box must be at least 120cm long and it's got to weigh a fair bit.

They have resent with Evri.

They aren't doing that though.  They're doing the same thing over and over again and simply don't care that they get the same results.

It's more cost-effective to take the hit on lost/damaged goods than to deliver everything properly.  Because what's the consumer going to do instead, go to an actual shop?

As a retired postie I saw the beginning of this race to the bottom. Way before the number of couriers were as they are now and the start of Amazon and their only real rival Play.com , remember them ? 🤔

Emptying collection boxes id regularly find Amazon packets and the one thing they had in common was the address was always either off the beaten track or up a very long garden path . I guess the thinking was " Sod that pop it in the Royal Mail system let the postie deliver it " 🙄

Coming up to date, I was cleaning our bathroom last week and noticed through the frosted glass a van pull up outside and a figure got out . I thought I'll go down and save them some time . Nothing happened, I thought strange then the van drove off .

I opened the front door and there was a packet with a stone put on top by the garage door. I guess the assumption being well there's no car on the drive so no one's in ? 🤔How about ringing the bell to find out?

I've had a wheel rim left under our car , luckily I spotted it before wife reversed over it 🙄

But I think the best one of all was about  15 years ago I had to send my Cove Hummer frame back to Lite speed in the States for a repair. I paid £140 can't remember which courier . They managed to " lose" it in a warehouse in Bristol. Several days later they were still looking for it , I said that must be one hell of a size warehouse! Then I get an Email from Litespeed saying they had a frame turn up with no documents was it mine? Turns out it was , contacted the courier." Still looking for it sir " I told them I knew where it was it had left the UK entered the States passed at least 6 security checks blindfold 🙄and was in the States .

I kicked up a fuss , they apologised and refunded me my £140 .

When they were called Hermes, our local delivery guy was excellent.

But... after he retired  and not long after the name change, went downhill bigly.  Just this last week I had something being delivered from overseas. The sender / exporter used Evri for the final leg.  Total bit of a mess. It was supposedly sent to a locker to collect. Yet the locker doesn't actually exist and hasn't for years. Yet kept getting emails to collect and  pinpoint directions to where I would(n't) find the lockers ! Dickhaeds. Contacted them, had a reply and would hear the next morning... didn't. Still haven't despite several web chats and emails. ****ing useless. Got a refund, but that's not the point- I ordered something because I needed it.

Also, don't get me on Yodel / whatever they are called now.

Ive had 2 complete new coffee machines go AWOL on me. Claimed delivered to the pick-up location, but defo not there (the pick up was a local co-op and the folks there been there years,  trustworthy etc - so it's not them having it away (their eyes would be on stalks with some much caffeine from 2 coffee machines!).  Clearly nicked by someone in the delivery chain.

I may have posted this before, but I find it astounding that I can order something from say Aliexpress, it can wend its way from somewhere unpronounceable in China all the way over here wholly uneventfully and then halfway up the country even, then is seemingly a logistical nightmare for it to cover 20 miles down the M65 without it spontaneously turning into a flock of doves or something.

Well I now have 2 workbenches.

The replacement arrived in 4 days, by Evri!

The original one, that I ordered over 2 weeks ago, has just been delivered.
