I've just tried that streetcheck thing, I was surprised at the diversity of my street according to that. I was also suprised that there are 361 people living in 21 houses, most of which are two bed semis 😆
AFAIK one guy in our street is married to an Asian lady (maybe Thai) and everyone else is white British.
There's a fair few St George's crosses flying in my locale (and I'd probably be lynched for saying locale in public)
The bar one is Mr Wong, nice guy but seems quite nervous or shy so only know him to wave / nod at.
No idea but in our street I've only noticed one person who isn't white. I believe he's a doctor, his mrs is white & speaks with a no particular accent.

461 crimes within a mile in November but none on our actual street and no bicycle theft so that's a win.
I lived in Manchester for 10 years in multicultural streets but these days the street (edge of Peak District) I live in is very "white British". An interesting mix of small terraced cottages with largely working class folks, all very friendly on our side of the street, versus huge posh houses looking down on us on the other side with 'no turning' signs on the driveway. We rarely even see those people let alone have them speak to us!

I know there could be some real bigotry behind such responses, but I always found such grassroots prejudice simultaneously exasperating and amusing.

Anything but PC. France does this better, ethnic information concerning the prison population or real population in detail simply doesn't get published. I haven't looked but would be very surprised if any ethnic/origin or other such information for my street is published anywhere.

The sad reality of growing up in the West of Scotland in the 70's was that racism wasn't really high on the agenda.......because religious sectarianism was way more important.

Please don't think that I mean either to dismiss it or condone it; I think I have always been so uncomfortable with it, I can't help but laugh.
Incidentally, a few years ago I was working among a particular community in Edinburgh. The Scots were very welcoming; the specific group among whom I was placed were most definitely NOT.

I've just checked a couple of addresses I lived at. Sreetcheck would appear to be a tool to drive the ghetoisation of the UK. It can so obviously influences people's choices in a racist manner I'm surprised it's legal.
