I'm thinking of buying an iPad but not sure which one to go for or the cheapest place to buy. Can't really see the point of getting anything more than the 16gb but then for an extra £70 will I regret not getting the 32gb?

Also where is the best place to buy price wise, best price I've seen for the 16gb is £419.

Before anyone says I have done a search and couldn't find anything.

Cheers.

Depends what you are going to use it for. If you want to load it with films and vids, then you'd be better with the higher capacity one. If you want it as a eReader / web browser, then the 16gb version will probably be fine.

And you can pair the iPad with a MiFi modem to alleviate the need for the 3g version.

I initially thought I'd need a 32/64gb but got a 16gb as a surprise present and it has been fine for me, had it 3 months and not even close to filling it.
I've loaded plenty of apps/games on it, about 20 issues of STW, some free books, a couple of 90 minute dvds and quite a few Disney shows from itunes (for my 4yr old honest) not much music though.YMMV
Stating the obvious but if it starts to get close to capacity just take the old stuff off and add the new.
It's great for watching iplayer and browsing the net etc.
Would have sent this from the iPad but my 4yr old is using it to watch numberjacks, so the laptop is getting a rare outing.
So unless you plan on having loads of music/films on it or can't be bothered transferring stuff with itunes then a 16gb should be fine.
HTH

Not sure I would go for MiFi as I will mostly use it at home. Can the iPad be tethered to an htc desire with unlimited internet for example?

generally your mobile provider wont consider use as a modem to come within your unlimited internet

I just got the 64gb wifi +3G as a birthday pressie. Well sanctioned by the CFO as a pressie.

Thought as she had no idea on costs. Could wangle the best one

Then found you had to pay for wifi in most places when out and about
So got the three £15 per month for 10gb broadband
The other deal was £7.50 pm for 1 gb
It's a rolling contract so can get out anytime

It now gets used all the time and can't see the point of not having the 3 G.
As I can use it nearly anywhere and anytime

The GPS and Maps are great too

+1 What cheviots said..

I have a 32GB and feel guilty when I see the almost totally empty bar in iTunes that shows contents. I usually have a few films on it, a few issues of ST, Dirt and Wired... plus a load of drawings in iAnnotate for work.

Yeh I think 16gb may well be enough. Just checked on topcashback and the apple store do a 3% cashback so I'll buy through that. Thanks for the advice.

Agree with trout on 3G, makes it so much more usable out and about.

Gary_M - with regards to the Desire tethering, if you're running the latest software update (2.2) you can use the phone as a wifi hotspot and connect that way - I do with my iPod Touch and it works fine.
Probably frowned upon by your mobile phone provider but as long as you don't take the P I'm sure it'll be fine.

cheers fbk I won't use it to tether very often so shouldn't be an issue. Probably only when I go on holiday in the UK.
