MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
As I finish work at midnight on a friday instead of listening to my ipod inthe car I find myself listening to Huey Morgan on radio2......damn good music, the other week he went from The Fatback Band to Husker Du
Now everyone seems to swear by Radio 6, and I'm not one for listening to music through the computer or the Sky box.......so what DAB radio's can people recommend?
the guitarist in me likes this:

EDIT: It's for the house, not the car, just re-read the first part of my post
I have a fairly basic Roberts one. Its good enough, £50 ish.
I have two pure ones, they are both very good.
I also have a Roberts one which has better sound imo.
I have a Roberts Gemini which has great sound and also can record, has pause for live radio and plays from SD cards as well

It looks much better in black though.
Choose your budget. Then buy either Pure or Roberts. Neither will disappoint.
We've got a Roberts in the kitchen, the one that looks like a classic Roberts radio. Had it for ages. I don't know how many channels it plays but it's been knocking out 5Live and 6music reliably for years now.
I got a sandstrom from currys for the daughter £50, it has an ipod charging dock on it. it sounds really good to me, when I got my new motor I asked for the built in dab and can listen to 6 music all over the country as I work, its great
I got a couple of Sony Dabs. both work great
Not knocking the Pures, but they got funny battery packs which put me off.
I have four Pure Dabs, up to about 10 years old which are still going strong. Sturdily constructed so they sound great. Also bought the latest Roberts Solardab this year which has also been excellent in the garden and on holidays. Just buy the heaviest one.
I bought a Sony mini system as it had DAB, this was a good few years back, but it is complete turd. The radio is not fit fir purpose, gets no reception in either DAB of FM. I use it now connected to the PC. Wouldnt and havent gone near anything Sony since.
I've got two Pure One Minis (office and kitchen), and a Roberts iDream clock radio (with iPod dock) in the bedroom. All sound fine to my ears.
I'd quite like the old fashioned looking Roberts one, but it's a bit pricey.
I'd think about one with internet radio on it as well tbh. Might cost a bit more but gives you access to a much wider choice of stations than dab . Don't get me wrong, 6music is great, but its nice to be able to choose stuff by genre also. A few are now broadcast in higher quality than dab and I would expect this trend to continue.
Why are Dabs SO expensive? Just wondering what makes them so?
Have a "cheap" M&S one the kids bought me for Xmas a couple of years ago and noticed a Pure one in a shop window for nearly £300!!!! Why?
I have a PURE Tempus 1-XT as my bedside radio which is very good but even better is my REVO Axis. Not cheap a c £180 but the sound quality is first rate, has an IPod dock, streams music over Wifi from my PC and plays web radio. It also can stream Last FM but I've not yet set that up.
So if you are a big 6 Music fine like me, you can hear podcasts of shows that have been missed.
Check out the reviews for the REVO,it's truely an exceptional bit of kit!

I've had 4 PUREs and still got 3 of them
Evoke - Broke, replaced at half price as it was out of warranty,
Move - Broke, fixed under warranty
Evoke 1S - Faulty display, needs switching off at athe mains to reset every so often.
Another Evoke 1S - OK, but this one doesn't get used much so it hasn;t had chance to break.
Despite the failures I like them and their customer service is very good, but it is a shame that I keep having to use it.
We have an Pure oasis radio which is great.
probably worth getting an internet compatible one too
