Somewhere family friendly, but not a bloody brewer's fayre type pub.

We like going to the riverside bit in Reading, but it's a bit of a faff to get to, we'd like somewhere closer. Any ideas?

The Foresters between Farnborough / Aldershot / Fleet, a bit pricy but always had good food there.

There are a couple of Indians opposite RAE main gate

Farborough local here....

There's a nice, but small and bustling, Italian in North Camp - Dolce Italia, not Manhattan
Lots of good curry about if you like that (Lots of Gurkhas round here!)
The Swan on Farnborough Road near the Airport does good pub food
Pizza Hut in town is always good (Been going there 15 years or more, maybe 1-2 a year)

Lemme think a bit.... 🙂

Yes, the curry house near the airport (Opposite the Swan) Is good, I've only been on the white one on the left, sorry can't remember the name.

There's the Crown and Cushion a bit out of town up Minley Road (Post ride pub) which is just of J4A on the M3

There's a new development in Camberley 'The Atrium' where the new cinema is with Chineese, Mexican, Thai, the usual chain places.... Similar to Reading but smaller

There's a nice Italian in Frimley too, near the mini roundabout in the middle.....

Is that enough yet?

The Rose and Thistle in Frimley Green (Another post-ride pub!) does good food and has nice real ales. (Theor crisp prices are extortionate though!)

And there's a Harvester there as well, just round the corner near the canal

I am in Fleet

There is a decent Italian place, ASK which is pretty good & my kids love it, then a couple of Chineses & 5 Indians inc my favourite The Golden Triangle... how could anybody resist it with a name like that?

I must have been there 20-30 times, good food, no problems. There's 2 together though, I go in the one on the left, not the trendy new place. 🙂

Oh there are trails behind the CSC building, right up to the top of Caesars Camp from the back fence.

Darkside, pay a trip to cycle kingdom in Fleet, there are a couple of fairly decent roadies there who can talk you through places to go.

I have a couple of gps routes I can email over if you want them... I cant say I would recommend me taking you out on a road bike, slow & out of practice I am afraid, this lot are probably worth an email too, I havent riden on the road with them but have been along to a couple of their velodrome days & a good bunch of people

There are trails behind me yes, but it's a bit.. naff.. really - it's ok for a short play but I think I scoured the whole place in 2 hours and only found a couple of bits of singletrack.

Tunnel hill was much better.

As for darkside, well I'm spoiled to be honest - at least south of here. Loads of lovely B and C roads everywhere where you can gawp at all the incredible houses.

You may have missed some bits but about 2 hours covers it. Minley Manor is worth a try too.

On the road bike we tend to head out through odiham & then down towards winchester / alresford

The Quays @ Mytchett is much better than it used to be. You can eat outside overlooking the watersking lake.

If you can get to haslemere there is an awesome little italian place just above the summerfields carpark. I believe it is called Arco Felice, run by an italian family and I have always had a great meal.

If you do head to Farnham I have always found Cafe Piccolo to be very good. Also I have found Borellis to be good too.

Of the places mentioned above:

The Rose and Thistle at Frimley Green is welcoming for kids during the day, the food is ok and they have a good selection of lagers and ale.

Unless you really want to go the a Harvester, avoid the Kings Head in Frimley Green as they really seem to have a problem with serving drinks - you will get your food before the drinks arrive.

I have always found the Gurka Palace in Farnborough good, it is not posh, but it is always very friendly and we have taken our young kids in there a couple of times with no problems - luckily my children avoided playing with the Gurka swords on the wall, unlike some of the 'adults' I have been in there with!

The Greyhound in Finchampstead does really nice food, not sure if that's too far for you.

Villa Bianca in Frimley, haven't been there for some time, but food is great and it's very lively/noisy! Of course the waiters are charming. 😉

😯 😯 😯

The Rose and Thistle in Frimley Green

Told you!

Why does no-one ever listen to me? Don't they know I'm always right?

Except when I'm wrong. Which is quite a lot, tbh.

Oh, I thought the Rose and Thistle was frequented by riffraff. ❓

I heard a rumour that dirty pi**ed people on bikes turned up there in winter. 😯

There is a pub just down the road from me called the Swan in Ash Vale, 10 mins from Farnborough, big beer garden next to the canal, and the Ash Ranges just behind for cycling.

Does great food and 8 real ales as well as Leffe and Hoegarden on tap, i think the best pub in the area.

Errrr, not at the Swan, unless they've changed their ale policy radically in the last 2 weeks.

Well I forgot all the places mentioned here.. but we ended up going for a drive on one of my roadie routes so I could show the mrs all the big houses, and ended up at Pride of the Valley in some village south of Farnham. It was ok actually.

The Donkey between Tilford and Elstead is quite good, bike friendly too. They have donkey's in the garden out back.
