We will be in touch
I want to head out for a bivvy on Friday night, I’d like a good view of the blood moon to get some pictures so want somewhere with no light pollution. A good pub nearby and somewhere I can leave the car. I’ll be on foot. Happy to drive 2-3 hours from Kidderminster (will be going straight from work) I can’t decide, too much choice, I was thinking High Cup, or maybe Whernside, but also have the Lakes, Wales available. Where would you go?
I'd take the easy option and head up the Long Mynd.
Church Stretton or the Horshoes Inn for the pub and then head up on to the Mynd or Stiperstones to see the moon.
Yeah that’s my normal go to, just fancy somewhere different
Which direction will the moon be just after dark? (up is not the answer!) You'll want somewhere with a view in that direction.
One option might be the Sulber Nick/Thieves Moss area just north of Austwick. Decent pub in the village, you can drive up towards Crummack farm and walk from wherever it says "no parking beyond this point", 30mins to an hour I suppose.
We've bivvied there before and had great views with no light pollution. I think it helped in that there'd been some rain a day or two earlier that had removed most dust from the atmosphere so there wasn't the usual scattering of the lights from the villages, certainly it was one of the clearer nights in the UK that I can remember.
The moon will be in the South East, I’d also (to be extra awkward) like to get a good view of sunset too. I think my finally decision will be based on weather forecast
Aren’t we getting thunderstorms on Friday night? We’re going to be camping 😮
Yep, widespread rain and thunderstorms according to the Beeb.

Head up to Ramsbottom. Bivvy up on Bull hill or Scout moor.
Lots of good pubs in the area and only a short ride from them to the tops
