The missus and I are contemplating upping sticks and moving.
We currently live on the Herts/Bucks border in the Chilterns which we love and the flat is on the market, but we can't find what we want, where we want it, for the money we can get.
I'm a designer and the Pimpette is a teacher, so jobs *should* be reasonably easy to find.
If we're moving, I'd like to get nearer the coast so I can surf more, but it *must* be near decent riding. Obviously there's got to be vague employment opportunities as well.
On a final note, we're not discounting moving abroad either - I worked as a guide and mechanic for several years, so could probably find something in the mountains.

Where are you both originally from?
Plenty of New Media jobs in Bristol and surrounding areas. Great riding both on the doorstep and within a short drive. Coast is but a mild schlep whether it's Wales or the SW. Massive urban surf community in Bristol - so plenty of people to share tips and rides (this is what I hear from a surfer mate - I'm not one myself 🙂 )

If Slovenia is an option, what are you waiting for? Such a fantastic country.
Another vote for Bristol or other places in the West Country. Easy access to the coast and to lots of singletrack. Large number of creative companies and lots of investment in the schools - lots of academies and public schools in Bristol, so salaries may be better than state sector.

Grown up stuff like working out how to afford to live once there, selling the flat and not speaking Slovenian. 🙁
I've lived in Croatia though and loved it - the language is a difficult one but it's a stunning area with fantastic riding. Surf is very limited though and the Balkans are still dodgy - while I was in Croatia (2004) the army were still on standby to go back out there.

I've stayed down in Brizzel too - loved it. Probably wouldn't live in the city now, but love the area.

Looking at Cardiff as an option - would have to be the city too. Pimpette lived in one of the villages on the south coast of Wales near Cardiff for a few years as a nipper. While she enjoyed it, her Mum was discriminated against because she's English. Really can't be bothered with that.
