i think it may settle down a bit, a lot of yesterdays lot are probably hungover
and id like to think threats of the police [s]finally getting off their butts[/s] using rubber bullets may damp things down in london at least
i imagine notting hill carnival will be edgier than normal this year too
with the government seemingly unable to comprehend the effect of recession, unemployment, cutting services, inflation etc would have i imagine this may become an annual event
Salford kicking off - Friend of my housemate has been told to stay indoors, she lives opp Regent Rd retail park, Sainsburys has been shut as have the other stores.
There was talk of a media/dish van going from section to section of the centre trying to 'talk up' disturbance and hope people would congregate there. If true it really is gutter-journalism in action.
that'll be Sky then....
The Apple store in town has just been ransacked. Police are looking for iWitnesses.
I'm already wearing it.
(And apologies if repeated on the big thread, but I ain't checking that).
I'll be staying in on the Turbos tonight in case Leighton Buzzard kicks off.
(Kicking off in Leighton Buzzard = four 18 year olds in a Vauxhal Nova)
Manc city centre looks nice and peaceful. Apart from normal rush hour chaos
Looting in Nelson Mandela House, Peckham right now! Apparently they've taken half-price cracked ice, miles & miles of carpet tiles, TVs, deep freeze, David Bowie LPs...
The Kaiser Cheifs predicted this years ago.
There are hundreds of pigs milling around yards from my back door
Are you a farmer?
No I just live on a pig rearing unit. 😆
Apparently Gaddafi has now recognised the London Rioters as the new official regime of England.
I spoke with a police friend earlier and he told me that oxford is likely to be hit tonight. Some of the normal shit holes - Blackbird leys, barton etc but the city centre too. My sister got sent away from work by british gas in cowley too as they expect trouble there too
Got a bit rowdy in Boroughbridge last night mind. Curly Keith parked his tractor on the double yellows outside the Black Bull & blocked a motorised wheelchair in.
I thought it was gonna kick off big style!
There are groups of guys hanging around outside what appear to be their own boarded up restaurants and convenience stores in Clapham High Street. I suspect vigilante justice if looters try it on there.

Last time it kicked off for me, it was outside the Black Bull in Boroughbridge - aged 15, looking after a mate who was scared to fight. My, that was a long time ago.
I'm currently away from home in sleepy S.Glostershire, in Thornbury. I don't think most people here have heard the news from far flung places like Bristol. The mail and papers still come by stagecoach I think....
😉
Mrs Toast, where in Leam are you? it is all clear from the top of Warwick Street!
Regent Street. Still all clear, but you can tell it's a smouldering hotbed of social injustice. Someone was complaining about the queue in Cafe Nero. FIGHT THE SYSTEM!
I gather the police are on standby here in Malvern - apparently they've got intelligence from twitter that the looters are planning a raid on M&S knitwear department.
Apparently 200 youths are smashing stuff up in West Brom...
It's true. Rioters have smashed through West Brom and caused £16 million worth of improvements.
Yeah, bad news here too. My mate has just had his mediaeval music concert cancelled. Police heard there was going to be luting...
it's gonna kick off in rothwell leeds in a minute
chuffin takeaway have forgot my keema nan............... 😈
Unacceptable, Ton. Don't stand for it.
Have a sit down instead. 😀
According to twitter it's meant to be Eltam.
However it appears Millwall and Charlton fans have teamed up to defend against any attack! 😯

i'm actually hiding at the mo - terrified.
didn't make enough custard for one of the bikevillage guides' crumble - shit going down big style in landry. 😐
@thegreatape: very good, are you here all week?
However it appears Millwall and Charlton fans have teamed up to defend against any attack!
Along with the lovely EDL it seems...
Pft. They're just out for a ruck, cos their footy's bin cancelled. If there's no looting, they'll just batter each other instead...
They better not burn fown Fopps. Anyone fancy a wander around central Manchester?
Alas Belper is still quiet, I was hoping to get a nice claim in for a new car. Mine obviously had my best suit/watch/clothes/work tools/mother in law at the time it was supposed to get torched! However it's apparently got a little riotous in derby earlier but to be fair some of those ****ers look in the mirror and want a ruck!!!
I've removed my lefty liberal hair shirt this evening and would request of Mr Cameron that a bunch of angry Paras fresh from serving in Afghanistan be released with full weapons onto the pond-life who are currently trying to destroy Manchester and Salford.
Maybe a group of hardened mountain bikers should form a posse?
Just heard rumours of shooting in Market St. Manchester centre n
Not heard anything about that but I'm very glad I didn't try to get into Manchester earlier this evening!
Not sure I could even have got in actually, apparently they stopped all the buses from running quite early on in the afternoon...
Manchester is being really ****ed up. Think there is a news blackout in force. Just avoided getting seriously messesd up at a mini roundabout on my commute home tonight. Shouted nob ed through the open drivers window of a Golf and saw two ****s in face masks. FFS. GMP twitter is silent too.
Yeah, been watching BBC online but it just keeps showing the same 2 min loop of footage from Salford...
Trouble in bletchley a few miles from woburn.
just seen a mate who is off to manchester doing security for bbc camera crew, apparently selfridges has been broken into.
Where's the caped crusader when we need him?
Maybe a group of respectable 30-something IT bods and engineers should get on their bikes and go and sort these scumbags out.
Joking apart, it is actually very frustrating how quickly things can get out of hand and a lack of 'community cohesion' doesn't help. I don't know my neighbours very well, do you?

I don't know, maybe.......where do you live ?

Thought you worked in Middleton Derek?
Drove through from Midd to Crumpsall earlier, didn't see owt.
I mean Manchester city centre rusty. Sky news has it covered. BBC are silent. Dozens of shops looted by teenage cuintz. Time to shoot some teenager dead IMO.
Cameron has lost his credibility. Spineless leadership.
He's a cardboard leader.

Welcome to 2005!
Sorry Derek, thought you said you got attacked on the commute home from work.
Whereabouts where you?
Radcliffe quiet at the mo.
Nothing worth looting, TBH 😐
