I read a bit that he put up saying that he had somehow annoyed Mark on the forum, I don't recall how. Apparently Mark emailed him saying he was out of order and he should think of everything the mag has done for him ie supporting him through the forum and changing his user name, and some other minor things. Basically trying to use his illness to sort of threaten him to modify his behaviour.

It was something along those lines but I'm not 100% sure. I will probably get an email myself now, that or get hit by the ban hammer.

Blimey, this sounds like a Stalinist purge, I wonder if there is a forest quietly full of "big hitters".

Makes dash for border, BM, all is forgiven.....

That was aaaages ago and he's been back since then

Edit: the last post http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-vauxhall-combo-crew-cab-bike-van

Edit2: his userid doesn't appear in the drop-down box in Advanced Search. I think that means his account has been closed/suspended.

Yea I knew it was some time ago but he did hint a few times after that he still wasn't happy with the whole situation. Just wondered if it was relevant to his current absence. I'm probably barking up the wrong tree.

Ah. Can you explain why his userid doesn't appear in the drop-down box thingy? FYI, there are quite a few banned usernames that don't appear there....

Username doesn't appear if the person hasn't posted for a while, it goes back on when they do.

A quick Googling suggests he lurks among us, even if he's not posting.

That would make some sense (I guess). The long-departed would fall off after a few months then? Makes finding some old threads a real ball-ache.

Google search is often more effective than a forum search IME

Yeah, it's lightning fast.

Google search is often more effective than a forum search IME

Google search from 1997 would be faster than forum search from 2013.*

Ah yes, we don't talk about [s]Jon Woodhouse[/s] him any more. He's now gone to the 'other side'. 🙂
Actually we do, and we keep bumping into him everywhere at every press event (in the bar...)

There have been a few staff changes here in the last few months, though I don't think we're actually any quieter. Jon left in November, but has been replaced by Dave (though he couldn't start until April due to his old job). Richard is the new Matt. Claire's off on maternity leave, so we have the tall, handsome James doing despatch and young Sim is here for another couple of weeks before he heads down the road to Orange bikes. We're interviewing for the new Sim this week. So, I reckon that we're actually where we left off. When everyone's in, I think there are 12 coffees to make. Any more and we'd have to get a branch of Costa installed!

And I think Bullheart is around. He was advertising a tasty looking van on here just a couple of weeks ago.

The last update I had was a few months ago and that said that he was doing remarkably well. So far as I know this remains to be the case. Top bloke who has been through some proper shit and seems to be coming out of it pretty well.

Sadly no, it's Smiley Dave, formerly known as "Director of Flowery ****" in the magazine

Good evening all,

Thank you all for the kind words and concerns. I have not been swiped by the ban hammer as the mighty Chipps has confirmed; more a self imposed exile, if you will. I found that I needed a time out.

And I'm still doing well. Currently the longest living cardiac and skeletal AS patient in history.

With no intention of giving up my crown. I don't think that my daughter would approve...

Honestly? I get up every morning, and the first thing I think about is how I'm going to f%€¥ cancer in the head with a brick.

And before I go to bed, just after I kiss my family goodnight, I think about where I can get a bigger, heavier brick from.

Because I hate cancer. And I'm going to find a way of destroying it. I'm not sure how, but I will be a component in its demise. I've sat through too many cancer-related funerals this year, for beautiful, kind and wonderful people. I'm buggered if I'll stand by and let it carry on taking good, good folk...

That's the spirit. I wish I knew how to be of help as I too would like to f*** it over. I specialise in designing training (inc within the NHS) so maybe I can step it up and start to make a bigger difference.

Iain McGeechan and Jim Telfer are retired, I can think of a dressing room that could do with a chat from you just before a couple of rugby matches this Summer.
