Look it up, I really can't be arsed to explain it all over again.

It's an ironic take on the "from zero to hero" saying where because of my uncanny ability to fail in almost every situation my wife says that I'm always Counting from Hero to Zero.

Used to be nicknamed Stavros when I had a moustache but that had been taken. So I chose the place where Arthur Dent is meant to be killed.

I had a blur when I first logged on here. The bike only lasted about three months, so for years it's meant nothing.

I did change after the hack to Barry_Bethel, but then it reverted back to this.

I like climbing (chalk) and biking (trees) and decided to use a cunning play on words to come up with my username. I realise it makes no sense but it's mine.

*Sigh*
I've explained it on two or three threads exactly the same as this one. Bored now, but for those who insist, try looking up William Gibson/Neuromancer/Count Zero/Monalisa Overdrive.

From the conversations relating to the devastating effect a weekends road racing, energy products and some booze has had on my digestive system. To be fair, once I've taken a viper boost bar there can be trouble for days.

During a visit to the pub for lunch when training I would order a bacon sandwich & ask for 'crispy bacon' the name stuck with my fellow trainees 🙂

I have absolutely no idea where the inspiration came from.... especially as I prefer steeper angles.

"Flying
And you know I'm not coming down
You're trying
But you know you must soon go down
All my colours
Turn to clouds
All my colours
Turn to cloud

What d'you say
When your heart's in pieces
How to play
Those cards in sequence
That box you gave me
Burned nicely
That box you gave me
Burned nicely

Flying down
Flying down

All my colours
Turn to clouds
All my colours
Turn to cloud

Hey I'm flowing
Hey I'm flowing
That box you gave me
Burned nicely
That box you gave me
Burned nicely
Hey I've flown away
Hey I've flown away
All my colours"

Anyone else know it/love it...?

Named after our elderly black lab, currently snoring on the sofa....at least I think the noise is coming out of that end rather than the other. I'll know shortly.

User name comes from my first "proper" bmx which I got in 1985, although it was technically a Redline Prostyler, and not their Proline...

My first sporting love before I got into biking was basketball and my favourite team, the Orlando Magic, used to play home games at the Orlando Arena, which was usually shortened to the 'O-rena'...

[img] [/img]

...and 45 comes from the number one of my favourite Magic players (Charles 'Bo' Outlaw) wore...

The green room: It's the bad place you go in a kayak when things go wrong, ie. held underwater for extended periods, and in nice clear water the light is very green.

Better get an obvious one in in case folk are nervous following a legend.

I'll be 47 this week, and have a habit of leaving the bike or the trail unexpectedly.

High school nickname, some people from my home town probably still don't know my real name!

I became quite a fan of psychoactive substances as a young adult so the nickname may have been a self fulfilling prophesy.

Used to play University Hockey when studying in Bolton

Every 2nd week enabled us to visit another Uni to play a match.

My team was shite (won 2 games in around 100 matches), but we ALWAYS won the post-match boat race

Would generally refuse the mini-bus journey home and stay and get lashed up with the hosting team

Different teams who i got to know started calling me Boltonjon and its stuck since then

The mad rush to a random train station most Thursday mornings to get a train back for 9am lectures would always be fun!

Them' were the days!!

When I started mountain biking I'd think that I was getting to the top then I'd turn the corner and there's a bigger climb than the one i've just done. So what always came into my head was ( well fcck me ) it became a regular saying of mine.

my name is jack, and when I'm not having a bumble I'm usually in a flap.

Named by Phil at MBMB in Chamonix as I was always last to be ready. It stuck and I am often called it in public - especially in car parks by folk waiting for me...

The proprietor of a late night drinking club in 70/80's Paddington was a German ex Hitler youth, larger than life etc, character, and he named me Billyboy.........and I became lumbered with it. Then I couldn't get a normal user name for various webmail etc sites so I just continued with it......
