Hi, I’m lucky enough to be starting a new job on Monday, which comes with a company car. As such I’m planning on selling our current car and getting a smaller run-around for the missus. Our current car is a Mazda 6 with nearly 136k on the clock and a fair bit of ware and a dint in bumper where a fox head-butted it! So where’s the best place to sell it to get the good price and a fairly quick sale? Thanks.

Auto trader web only (don't pay extra for mag insert)

As above.

Priced my car optimistically (quite a bit over book price I thought), paid for three weeks web and 1 week mag, had two enquiries and sold it the next morning! It was a Mondeo Zetec Estate 130TDCi, so common but not many for sale in the local area...

The buyer turned up to view and drove off in it 30 minutes later 🙂

Auto Trader without a doubt. I tried local, ebay etc but was all a waste of time. As soon as I put it on AT it was gone within a few days.

Private sale is just as safe as an auction, safer if the deal is cash rather than paypal 🙂

ebay is good for selling cars and you have a fixed timescale.

try www.pistonheads.com classifieds section - gets a fair bit of traffic and it's free! Got to be worth 10 mins to upload an Ad and photo etc.

Slap it on autotrader, just the website will be enough.

Make sure you write "no canvassers" in your add or you will get seriously hassled for a couple of weeks. Sold my car in 3 days for 400 more than i wanted and got paid in cash too. Great site and worth the money.

keep it. how much will you get for it, selling a car you presumably know and trust ? weigh that up with what you will then spend on a smaller run around, with maybe bills round the corner ?

Autotrader is definitely the best place to start because most people are familiar with the site. Other than that, check out Pistonheads AND Mazda forum classifieds.

I would avoid EBay - full of wasters looking for silly cheap deals - only put it on there if desperate to sell and prepared to get a minimal amount for it. I once tried to sell a car on there and got nowhere. Have since sold a few on AutoTrader and they have sold quickly with no hassle.

Ebay if it's a banger. I flogged my failed MOT merc on their for 20 quid less than I paid for it - no problems, but it helps if you write a comedy selling blurb - if nothing else you get good banter in the questions section.
