We're struggling to recruit 2 senior/experienced php programmers so there's either a shortage or we're not offering enough?

Ta 🙂

Probably higher than the going rate for PHP coders in the SW 😉

Depends if you just want code monkeys, or ones who can do software architecting and design as well.

That's a bit of a "how much does a bike cost" sort of question. I'd say post the job description and how much yuo were offering and we can all tell you how much you'd need to offer. Chances are you're after a carbon race whippet bike and you're offering bso money 😉

Not in the Lakes or I guess we would have plenty of applicants on here 😆

Its based in Morecambe, famous for sunny skies, sandy beaches... okay its a freakin dump 😕

We're offering 30k but will probably up it to 32 🙂

I know architecting is a horrible word, and I hate it, but it does kind of get across the meaning, and I've been going through bugzilla most of the day trying not to be obviously rude to the clients, so it's the best you are going to get. 😉

I'm kind of out of touch with the going rates for up country jobs, so I could be wrong here, but that money looks a little low for a good senior php developer, more like standard php coder money[1].

[1] As in, knows the language, can knock out chunks of code to a decent spec, but doesn't have the design skills to design a complex system from scratch, spec it for other coders, figure out how it is all going to hang together, sort out modelling in UML or similar etc, which is what I would expect from a senior developer[2].

[2] I used to expect a lot of those skills from anyone who called themselves a programmer, but experience has taught me that I was sorely mistaken, and the useless sods were usually on upcountry rates, rather than Cornish rates too, which was a bit galling.

Presume you've already googled jobserve and similar? Quite often they will have rate ranges posted

I'm principally c# not php, but php is not that hard having done some drupal last month. the salary sounds good, maybe it;s the rest of the package?

Really? I'm a Senior Software Engineer and Technical Lead with 12 years solid experience (in proper languages, not PHP) and I'm on 34k. 😳
