[Closed] Whats the best way to connect stereo speakers to a laptop?

Got some speakers that I want to connect to my laptop.

Is it going to be a case of 3.5mm lead (converter to split to L&R channels) to Amp and connect speakers?

Can I use a pre-amp USB Audio Interface or is the amp a definite requirement?
