The marketing or the quality of the product?
For me the good quality of the product will always outweigh the short term gains of a good marketing campaign of a crap product. Mainly from the consumers' perspective rather than the insider (expert).
If it isn't marketed well enough for me to hear about it, how will I know to buy it and try it?
If it is market average but really well marketed then I might feel good about the product event though it is the same as many others (iPhone for example)
If it is really well marketed and the product is rubbish then there will be enough market noise and upset to ruin the marketing
If the marketing is average but the product is really good it might register on my radar and I might try it.
Some products get a wide following through word of mouth and are for things that surprises the manufacturers but they can't market to the new audience without putting off the traditional one - Avon skin oil = Insect repellent
Not sure if that answers anything but it was more interesting to write than the PPT I am meant to be working on

Glad to have helped. 😆
Right, I have finished the Powerpoint - do you want any more comments on this?
coca-cola

marketing 2 quality 0
quality. If I want something I'll research and find out, so marketing is important for awareness, but it is trumped by the importance of good quality
