I have an old smartphone and 2012 nexus that are now redundant as I have a new phone. Both are about the same age and when I google, not worth anything to anyone. So rather than throwing them in the bin is there anyway to make better use of them, either charity or some cash, simply.

Are you quite sure the Nexus (a Nexus 7 I assume?) isn't worth anything..? They sell for circa £40 on eBay...

I've a friend who takes unwanted mobiles to Ghana every few months, so there may be something similar.

Most places will take them in px for a new one. EE do an online valuation before you're due an upgrade. They're worth recycling, there's a lot of rare trace elements in phones.

Just make absolutely sure you wipe the hard drive and data before handing it back!

Full reset before reselling / donating is a must.

I use couple of old phones without SIM as Spotify players at home, leaves the main phone free for other things.

Chuck them at cats in the garden? Cats hate old tech, FACT!

It's what I do with my old stuff. Find Nintendo game boys are the best though. For getting rid of cats that is, obviously.

Melt down and extract the gold inside 😀

I just have all my old phones in a box, dating back to mid 90s. Mostly Nokia. Same with most of my tech. Never thrown out, just collects dust somewhere.

Can always be used as a spare in case your current one dies.

Recycle them and you're probably encouraging child labour in some third world country where they pull phones apart for the materials inside. Probably will see the battery turned into a crap battery for an MTB light 😉

If they work ill take them for my kids. Forever breaking mobiles and tablets, so cheap replacements are always useful!

I thought they sent them to African nations as a ruse purely to get them into the middle east for later use as detonators.
