We will be in touch
To take shots of the inside of a camper van, wide angle.
What camera do you have?
I'd say something like a 28mm or you're risking too much distortion, obviously depends on sensor size.
A wide angle lens can be expensive.
Depending on your camera your sensor/chip size will dictate the focal length you will get.
So on a full frame camera which has a sensor equivalent to 35mm film a 15mm lens with be a 15mm lens. If you have a crop sensor (APS-C) you have to multiply it by 1.6 So a 15mm lens will be equivalent to a 24mm lens. so not nearly as wide.
If you can I would borrow one, unless it's something you will use a lot.
Also what are the shots for? Selling your camper?.... use a wide angle compact...commercial photo work you will need nice glass.
Where are you jkomo? If you are local to Warwick then I have a sigma 10-20 that you could use for a few shots
Depends on the camera really ... as the sensor size affects how much you see for a given focal length of lens.
If its a 1.6x crop size sensor ( like a Canon 60D , Nikon 300D etc ) then if you fit a Sigma 10-20mm lens, at its widest you'll pretty much be able to see beyond 90° of a view. i.e. stand in the corner of a room, and you'll see the whole room just about. That being said, at the edges of the picture will be quite stretched / distorted.
If you've got something like a full size sensor ( Canon 5D etc ) then a 17-40mm width would achieve pretty much the same result.
I have the Sigma lens ... its good, but wide angle has it limitations and you miss some of the reach of the 17-40 lens I have when indoors when you want that closer shot of a face.
If you have a 5D you won't be asking simple questions about wide angle lenses.
Or if you are, you don't deserve such a good camera 😉
stitch together a panorama using a lens already in your bag (assuming you've one that'll focus close/enough/ the camper isn't tiny). 🙂
There are Apps for smart phones which do stitched panoramic photos for you...
NB If you're near Cambridge, I can take some using a Fish Eye lens (170 degree field of view).
Wow, thanks for the info. It's a Canon eos something or other. (not expensive)
Bamboo, thats very kind, yeah I'm just south of Banbury, but it's for a mate to take shots of his vans to sell, so needed regularly.
I'll look out for a second hand one.
Thanks again.
The Sigma 10-20 suggested by Bamboo would be just the ticket, then. Great lens for the price and ideal for what you want it for (I've used one to take photos of a room refurbishment and they came out looking like catalogue photographs).
