It'll get a bit of use for photography stuff, just simple image editing etc, much difference in the processors?

I have the compaq but only really use it for t'internet and loading photos onto and ipod, nothing fancy. I've had a dell before this which i prefered but the compaq is good and quite quick.. Probably does not answer many of your questions but something anyway.

I'd do for the Dell just based on the more powerful cpu and more memory.
