On one forum I used to frequent, one would have thought that the cred was based on post count. The amount of hoohar when we hid the post count number was incredible, and some kiddies have a right strop. We did it cos there were a few that literally HAD to reply to every single post with an opinion, so almost every thread was ending up like the trump thread.
Was assuming my rating is penalised for finding better way for a******ing and not being tracked by other sites whom I have no dealings with.
Perfect 10 for me.
Odd, when most of my posts are about crisps or Airfix kits.
What else really is there in life? Bikes, a magazine about bikes maybe...

I only really give 'likes' to people I 'like' and not necessarily the posts. We shouldn't have favourites but I do.

And so I am! I'd looked in the usual place - you know, my profile page, but alas, no rating. Then I somehow managed to discover it in that magical, mystical, 'new' version of STW, that only occasionally exists for this mere mortal.
Disappointed at being 9. I try hard to be hated and thought I was succeeding. Definitely a must try harder for me.

hitting the 'like' function on posts is clunky I find, sometimes it works sometimes not, but in general I give likes to photos in the weekly riding threads, and also when someone comes back and posts a thanks in reply to inf given when they were asking something, suggestions for places to ride etc. 🙂
The post totals and likes are all there to see so I'm sure someone could reverse engineer the 'formula' 🙂
I will be digging around under the hood at some point - I'll report back if I find anything. Right now the forum is currently being indexed by an Ai search tool, so the ratings system hasn't had my full attention just yet 🙂
The ratings are based on number of posts, time served and likes vs dislikes - although we don’t allow dislikes. It’s a reputation rating. The calculation is default for the software. It’s always been there but the latest update shows it.

interesting, I am a relative newcomer to STW (joined for the print mag basically) so not been knocking around the forum very long, but out of 899 forum posts I have 686 'likes', not bad!

Am disappoint, was expecting an updated version of the Octavia, log-burner, single malt, coffee machine, custom built titanium frame from a beardy guy from Brizzle list.
Apparently what makes you a true STW-er is just being liked by others o_O
Interestingly it says I've given out over 100 likes (I think that's what it means) but I did't even know that free members could give out likes...

9/10 for me after checking (had no idea there was a score). am pleasantly surprised by the score tbh (does the arnie predator handshake with everyone minus the huge muscles).

7/10 - So i now need to post more often and make those posts as crowd pleasing as possible.
So... I love all types of bikes, but some bikes i love more than others. I like all types of riding, but some types of riding i like more than others. I have an espresso machine and left wing views. I am highly inclusive. Regrettably however i do not work in IT nor own a van. And of course Steel Is Real.
