Opened my profile by accident and saw there are a number of scores associated with my profile.
6 out of 10 for 'rating', but no clue how to be a better :-/
Makes me sound a bit 'dodgy'. I pay and don't think I have ever posted anything that was deleted/banned by the Mods and I have 209 "likes" so I am not sure why only 6 out of 10.
Reminds me of my school reports where teachers wrote things like "capable of far more" or "must try harder" and I never really understood how/why 🙁
Oh Single Track Gods, how may I appease you? 😉
WGAF.
Actually just checked and mine is 7/10. Still CGAF though.
9/10 😂 oh crap.
I noticed I can change my title from Member though. Doesn’t seem to be visible anywhere else though?
So apparently you GAF as you went and checked
![]()
Yeah started off not GAF then had to look! 🤣 Still, not fussed about improving it.
I'm in charge of handing out all the ratings and just want it to be known that I'm both extremely vindictive and also very much open to bribes (tips Spooky a knowing wink)
Im rated as annoying eff wit
10/10 for me! 😎
10 here too. I've never felt more loved.

Yep same here, I wasn't sure how it was determined, very odd, I've been found wanting 🤔
I have no rating. I know my place. 😳
10/10 for me, dunno how that metric is judged though?, most likely its plucked from the air.
I've never been a 10/10 before in my life, do we get a badge?, a wall plaque?, a national holiday named after us?
8/10 cats prefer DoD to other brands.
Are we certain 1/10 isn’t the good rating?
You know, like KoMs on Strava.
And… you can check other folks ratings before you argue with them.
(TJ given you’re 10/10 what does that tell me exactly?)
How can I be -3?
6/10 here too. Makes sense.
I asked an LLM for giggles and a possible hallucination,it obviously didn’t say i don’t know 🙂
Take it with a pinch of salt but it thinks……..l
On Singletrackworld, the “profile rating” isn’t a complex algorithm like Reddit karma or Stack Overflow reputation. It’s actually quite simple—and a bit more limited than people often expect.
👍 What the “rating” actually is
- The system is based on “Singletrack Credits” (introduced in 2023).
- These are basically likes on forum posts.
- When someone clicks the little gold icon on your post, you get +1 credit.
So your profile “rating” is essentially:
The total number of credits (likes) your posts have received.
🚫 No negative ratings (by design)
- You cannot downvote or give negative scores.
- This was done deliberately to avoid abuse, harassment, or pile-ons.
- People can remove a credit they gave, but not subtract beyond that.
👤 Who can give ratings?
- Initially only paid (“Full”) members could give credits.
- It later expanded to all registered users.
🧠 What it doesn’t do
- It’s not a skill rating or expertise score.
- It doesn’t affect permissions, ranking tiers, or visibility (at least currently).
- It’s more of a lightweight appreciation signal than a reputation system.
🔮 Possible future features (not guaranteed)
The site hinted they might later:
- Show totals more prominently
- Add filtering based on credits
- Even allow “spending” credits somehow
…but those ideas haven’t necessarily been fully developed.
Bottom line
Think of the profile rating on Singletrackworld as:
👉 A running total of “likes” your forum posts have earned—nothing more complex than that.If you want, I can explain how it compares to Reddit karma or other forum systems, which
No idea what I've done to deserve it, but I am apparently 10/10.
MrsMC begs to differ.
10/10 … so does that mean I’ve completed STW?
Wouldn't give this forum 1/10
And there's no way I'm closing sixteen pop ups to find out what it thinks of me.
9/10, but I do drop some absolute stinkers of posts every now and then that plummet down the first page with nary a like or reply 🙄
Was it not the case that Facebook's origins was a site that Zucks and co created to rate the comparative 'hotness' of fellow students.
anyway - 10/10. Although I did bribe myself to get that

The phrase 'a bit of a dark horse' seemed to pop up surprisingly often in my school reports 🙂
So ratings are a new thing? I just logged in for the first time in a just over a year to search for a message I had hoped I might find still on the server, and discovered that I had a rating of 9/10. Thanks whoever gave that to me! 😎
P.S. I didn't find the message, but if Mark who built my bathroom at the beginning of the first Covid lockdown sees this, would he please get in touch?
I'm 9/10 too. It's quite nice to know that I'm not wholly objectionable 😯.
9/10 can’t get better than that.
Yes you can. 😁
Wouldn't give this forum 1/10
And there's no way I'm closing sixteen pop ups to find out what it thinks of me.
Tell us you only got 2/10, without telling us you only got 2/10.
Why don't we all like the op's post and get them to a 10/10, or maybe even up to 11 like a nice internet pile on?
7/10, which describes my entire life perfectly.

Dives off to check.....
Nope, still 6/10 🙃
No comments with the rating which is a shame...
"Needs to work on spelling"
"Use the predictive text less"
"Think before you start a new topic!"
That sort of thing would help me enormously!!
Edit :
Maybe an AI bot can work out your mtb tech skills with your smart phone somehow as well and that's taken into account as well for an overall score?
Perfect 10 for me.
Odd, when most of my posts are about crisps or Airfix kits.
However, I notice that only 8,765 of my, err, 43.9K posts have received Likes. That's only 1 in 5 posts. I must try harder!!!!

The ratings are based on number of posts, time served and likes vs dislikes - although we don’t allow dislikes. It’s a reputation rating. The calculation is default for the software. It’s always been there but the latest update shows it.
Mark 9/10

9/10 for me.
But, 13,500 posts with...292 likes...
We need a league table/disagreeable posters - with jeopardy of relegation to Mountain Bike Monthly (other publications are available).
Perfect 10 for me.

Play to your strengths!
