Fed up with the PG Tips my missus buys, who makes the best brew then ?
Twinings or Jacksons, depending on what blend you prefer.

Yorkshire
This is good tea teapig
Its about £4 for 15 bags but it is lovely stuff, Waitrose sell it.
PCB
Yorkshire if you want proper tea. Tesco finest* if you want Earl Grey. Tic-Toc if you want to clean your bowl out.
Fair-trade always tastes better.
I'm partial to a Ringtons Connoisseur in the morning.
PCB you have damned expensive taste, might get them on my xmas list...
Nambarrie
Yorkshire Tea here 🙂
M&S Gold here or Twinings breakfast tea if shopping at Waitrose. Failing that anything but Tetleys.
Yes they are quite pricy!
A client got me some teapig, I'm saving them for a Rainey day, hope they are worth the price/hype/myth
I made a BIG difference to my tea by using bottled water!
the welsh tea, or gold tea from Lidl. Very nice.
or else Lancashire Tea http://www.lancashiretea.co.uk/
Tetley !!!!!!!!! not too strong at all.... i drink yorkshire tea sometimes but find it a tad too strong....
Tetley is spot on for taste .... 😉
The ones in the red box from Sainsbury's
Twinings every day or Yorkshire. Lancashire tea is vile.
Yorkshire Tea, end of.
Tetley is like grey pisswater only beaten in the pisswater stakes by asdas own. Yorkshire is where its at, nice and strong so you can taste it, splash of milk and not of that soft sugar rubbish.
I must say that Yorkshire does not taste right in the lake district due to the water, still better that Tetley though
Clipper is my fav, but I'm also partial to a Yorkshire tea
Yorkshire or Twinings Pure Assam if feeling posh.
Yarkshire tea, though have to put up PG Tips at work (but then I'm not paying for them).
yorkshire for me too please much as it pains me to say it about my own county Lancshire tea is horrid, still we can't do everything the best
Yarkshire. There is no substitute.
yorkshire tea here too. if you want a proper hit then get the gold version. i never go anywhere without it, and i mean ANYWHERE.
All wrong. Punjana is the nicest tea bag tea. £2.99 for 160 bags at Tescos.
Its fairly strong and tastes really good, like leaf tea, fragrant and sweet, not like recylced cardboard dissolved in hot water .
Yorkshire tea close second tho.
I've been given Tetley tea on an Indian train before. Very odd.
Twinings every day (the yellow box) for me. Love it.
That clipper organic stuff is gash.
Ringtons then Yorkshire.
M&S did an extra strong a while back that was lovely.
Yep, Yorksire tea.
Yorkshire Gold for me, every time.
[admits slight bias, though it is the best.]
Yorkshire tea, Yorkshire qualitea
Yorkshire or Twinings everyday. I tried some Punjana recently which wasn't bad.
lucas :::: erm Tetley tea is fine,,,,, question tho : why are you drinking 'yorkshire tea' in the 'Lake District' ? its for 'yorkshire people' born n bread ! obviously yorkshire tea wont taste the same in the lake district (its not rocket science now is it !!!! lol 😉
Punjana - if you like tea
Tetley - if you like dishwater
Yorkshire or Tetleys for me, no milk or sugar thanks! 8)
Clipper or Yorkshire but I used to get Indian Prince from the co-op which was proper tea (is theft, I know, I know) don't know if its still around but what a lovely brew it was....
TeaPigs are ace especially the Chai, Chilli and summer flowers, worth every penny 🙂
Sainsbury's Red Label ... in the absence of Red Label proper tea leaves.
Clipper.
End of thread.
Apparently the best way to make a cup of tea is to agitate the bag. I find punching her in the face before I go into the kitchen works best.
Miles West Country Tea Bags are doing it for me at the moment. Such a nice change from Tetley/PG.
Tetley or Scottish Blend.
In PoundLand you get 100 Tetley for....you've guessed it....a pound.
Williamson's Duchess Grey, if you must know.
Waitrose Assam
Tetley is like grey pisswater
Wrong. Tetley is good stuff.
Tried that Yorkshire tea and was less than impressed by it's strength. Weaker than Tetley if you ask me.
We're on a pack of Tetley Extra Strong at the mo and it's just not strong enough. Back to normal Tetley after.
Assam here - Waitrose is good as is the Tesco 'Finest' or whatever it's called. Nice and strong.
There's always Steepster.com for the real tea obsessives.
Yorkshire here too
Tried loads of different versions over the years, but keeep coming back to Yorkshire.
Our little one managed to smash our 50 year old tea pot at the weekend!
Tea at our home will never taste the same again! 🙁
Twinings Everyday.
Tea drinkers have always marked themselves out on this forum by not going on for three pages like the coffee arses...
😆 I'd like to think this is true although I'm sure a 'how to make the perfect cup of tea' could run to three pages+ 😉
M&S assam for me but I think the sainsbury's assam is pretty good too.
Yorkshire is OK too, in general it just has to have some flavour
Tried some clipper and it's great - my new standard everyday tea.
Barry's is our favourite which we import every time we head over to Ireland as it can be difficult to source over here.
Tend to by Twinings Everyday tea in the yellow box.
Used to buy Sainsbury's Red Label and that's pretty good. Don't know if it's just 'cos that's what my mum always used to buy, so the flavour had 20 years or so to ingrain itself!
I like Twinings Lady Grey. Very tasty and not too strong.
One bag makes two nice mugfuls in a teapot.
Jacksons of Piccadilly fairtrade - same price as Clipper but a much nicer taste. Clipper and Twinings everyday teabags are ok as a second choice but never the M&S gold label - they have a funny smell about them.
We usually just have Typhoo. Tastes fine to me and better than Twinings Everyday, PG Tips etc.
I also like Twinings Ceylon or Assam. Teapigs is really good but expensive.
Try all of the above and then you'll go back to PG.
Depends where you live and what the waters like, used to like pg when I lived up north but when I moved down south it's not the same, waitrose everyday is nicer down here (hard water) but up north (soft water) it's rubbish
Twinnings Everyday mainly, but TeaPigs English Breakfast when I'm feeling decadent. Clipper and Coop Fairtrade are not too bad, but I always defer to Twinnings for general brewage.
Twinings Everyday usually. Very occasionally Yorkshire or Yorkshire Gold. Twinings Assam is excellent but too hardcore for me since I stopped having sugar. I find brewing time is critical - 3 minutes is usually best but it's worth experimenting.
Depends where you are and what type of water you have. Devon - almost anything tastes wonderful. Thames - I like Clipper and Yorkshire, but not Yorkhire Gold. Try changing the water first.
For real tea, Twinnings Darjeeling without milk...
as just mentioned above - for me, it entirely depends on the area and what the water is like. I've had good and bad experiences with Tetley.
Twinings everyday is very good in Sheffield 🙂 I just discovered it yesterday!!
There is one universal rule which applies to Lancashire tea - it's rank, no matter where you have it. And I'm from Lancashire.
[EDIT] whatever you choose, make it in a tea pot!! Such a huge difference in taste.
Another Clipper fan here 🙂

Sainsbury's Red Label ... in the absence of Red Label proper tea leaves.
I would agree with Sainsbury's red label! My favourite
Tetley is weak, like dish water
Yorkshire, while nice, a little thick for me
Tetley is weak, like dish water
You obviously haven't tried it. (or are thinking of PG Tips)
Glengettie - lovely almost "peppery" taste. Glengettie Tea
Panad Cymreig - Nice and strongPanad Cymreig
I like clipper

We have it in work... its very average
horses for course though init, except your wrong & im right 😉
We have it in work... its very average
I wish we did, but it's bloody PG Piss. 🙁
except your wrong & im right
Aye, 'tis the STW way.
its best not to limit yourself to just one brand, i always have a few different teas in the cupboard (ok, its full of the stuff and its called the tea cupboard) inc. clipper, jacksons, twinnings among others.
but for my regular brew its gotta be the yorkshire.
it tastes even better since i got one of these
[img]
[/img]
another for clipper, like their green tea myself
The dirt cheap assam tea they sell in the corner shop at the Lewisham end of Deptford High Street is the best. I think the company that "makes" it is based round there which is why it is so cheap.
Clipper.End of thread.
Definitely. Took a whole removals box full of the stuff with me to Sweden, best teabags ever.
My mates mum always used to drink Yorkshire tea because (and I quote) "I don't like that Indian rubbish"...
Barry's tea! It's an Irish thing, proper strong tea.
We only have Tetley at work 🙁 Its made from wood dust and floor sweepings, ****ing mings ... I drink coffee at work ... Typhoo might also ming, but at least it tastes of something.
PG went very bitter, we switched to Twinings Everyday for bulk tea consumption purposes. Yorkshire just dosn't seem to work with the water here south of bristol.
