[Closed] What have I done to my arm and what exercises can I do to fix it?

I was having a throwing competition with my nephew back in April and I pulled something towards the top of my lower arm (just below the elbow, on the inside of the arm). It doesn't give me any pain day to day, but my arm is weakened and certain lifting / pulling movements still cause pain now. I was hoping it would have settled down on its own accord by now but it hasn't. I don't really want to waste my GPs time on this and was wondering if anyone might know what it is and what I could do to help fix it.

Ta.

Golfers Elbow?

RICE, ibuprofen and time  if so.

Not sure RICE would be helpful now after 5 months!? I have rested it as much as practically possible already (not done any weights in the gym and avoided any heavy lifting) and there isn (never was) any swelling or anything. I guess ibuprofen might do the trick though - it did when I had De Quervain syndrome a few years ago and this isn't such a different injury. Ta 🙂

You tore the muscle and now it's permanent damage. Occasionally it will re-assert itself, when you can rub Ibuprofen gel on it but you'll always have it. Guess how I know this? I've got one at the top of my left arm and one in my left thigh, which I've had for years.

I was having a throwing competition with my nephew

I'd expect that to hurt him more than you.  How far did you manage to throw him in the end?  Was it worth it?? 😀

Sounds like hyperextend or tore anconeus muscle, ignoring it at the start was a bit of a mistake as your GP would have giving you some advice.

If that's what it is as it's hard to tell by internet so you really a physio would be a good bet, however you can get internet advice here.

Rub it with ibuprofen gel and the pain will subside, then avoid doing what aggravates it. You will learn over time.

My arm is still knackered after a drunken fall a few months back, had an x-ray at the time but there was no real sign of bone damage so they weren't too fussed. Can't straighten it now and supporting weight on it makes me wince, was going to make an appointment with the osteo to see what they say as they have sorted out a raft of other injuries over time.

I had the exact same thing after lifting something heavy when cold.

I didn’t get any treatment and it took months to heal but seems ok now.
