[grump]In need of those big old blue/black bulldog clips like them wot we had at school. So called local B&Q to enquire after stock. Young woman answered phone. She very politely asked what on earth I was talking about. Never heard of 'bulldog clips'. Went to ask another member of staff. No idea, and no we don't have them[/grump]

Then realised I probably should have tried stationers.

(sorry, am also horrified at how boring this is)

So look on fleabay to find that such things are now 'vintage' items commanding prices from £9.99 to £100 depending on whether they are 'vintage' (like me) or 'ancient' like my grandparents! Holy shit. Bulldog clips?! Couldn't give them away back in the day 8)

So when's the last time a person under 40 yrs of age was confused because you said a weird word like 'telephone', 'floppy disc' or 'bulldog clip'?

Bulldog clips are ace as you can hold so much paperwork together with them. Make a clipboard out of any piece of scrap wood, hold small things together when assembling/gluing stuff.

I don't like the modern world and I'm only 40. 😉

In answer to your question: Never.

But then I've not asked for such things in a shop that wouldn't have ever stocked them.
I can understand how someone in "work mode" in shop might be bit confused.

But don't worry, you can still buy them....

You'll have a real problem after staples close all of their uk stores.

If they were the only place that sold them then yes but they're not.

There will be bulldog clips in hardware stores again once we're out of the EU.

A search on eBay brings up more sizes, colours and styles that you can imagine.
