Looking for some feedback from those a little more clued up on the computers side of things than myself.

I am after a portable harddrive and memory stick for use at work. Currently I have 26GB on my computer and use a USB that is 256MB.

Would appreciate if anyone could reccomend a memory stick that is fairly tough as it gets alot of abuse, also a pretty small and portable harddrive and a little advice about what brands/makes to consider?

Also if you know where to look for the best deals and prices other than Amazon please let me know-budget is £70ish(is that enough?)!!

Cheers

Will

We use Freecom Toughdrives at work, they bounce...

As far as USB sticks go, just buy a few from any manufacturer. They're that cheap you may as well treat them as disposable.

Your post reminded me that I needed to get one.

I've just bought this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-TS500GSJ25M-Trans-500GB-StoreJet2-5in/dp/B001HAMNSY/ref=pd_cp_ce_1

same price as the 250GB toughdrive. Faster than most (with USB only, i.e. no Firewire), cheaper than most, passes US military drop test. It was a no-brainer for me once I'd stumbled on it. The cnet review helped :

THE BOTTOM LINE: The Transcend StoreJet 25 Mobile stomps the competition and lives to fight another day, thanks to its rugged military-grade exterior. It also delivers chart topping transfer speeds and offers the cheapest cost per gigabyte on the market today. We fully recommend this tough little drive.

And + 1 re: ben's comments about sticks.

bensales-that looks really good actually. really like the built in usb lead.

ned-do you need to carry a usb cable along with that or is it built in to the drive?

looks like you'd (I'll) need a cable. agree that's a good point of the other one, especially if you moved it around a lot and it would be a complete pain in the arse to find yourself with the data but no cable.
